“Just great !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

After a long drive from Boston and its horrendous traffic, we couldn't dream of a better place to stay. Coming from Europe, I would say it's an ideal place to stay; it's closed to Philadelphia and there is a interesting places to visit : Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, etc. A few "chic" restaurants around the hotel, and as a foreigner I preferred the Texas Steak House and it's very colorful atmosphere.
Rooms in the main building are beautiful and comfortable. We really felt like home. After 2 days, we were ready to stay at least a week,so peaceful.

My husband and I were invited by friends to visit Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA and were encouraged to try our overnight stay at Sweetwater Farm. It's an idyllic B&B set against a 50 acre background of farmland, vineyards, and rolling hills. We chose to stay in one of the little cottages on the property as opposed to the main house which dates back to the 1700's but has been updated. The cottage had it's own little front porch surrounded by wine vines a very adequate bedroom and a lovely updated bath with a shower and separate tub. It's a very peaceful and pet friendly accomodation and a nice breakfast is included out on the back porch overlooking the pool. We will definitely try it again on another visit to Longwood Gardens.

Room Tip: You can go on line to see the features of each of the rooms. Our friends chose to stay in the main...

Lovely setting on farm and vineyard. Nicely air conditioned. Numerous activities, especially in summer when pool (which is excellent) is open. Detached cottages comfortable for families with children. Breakfasts somewhat limited but can ask for cooked-to-order eggs, etc. In addition to Brandywine attractions, kids may especially enjoy climbing into the tree-houses at the nearby Tyler Arboretum. One truly superb restaurant a few miles away -- Brandywine Prime, 1617 Baltimore Pike (Rt 1), Chadds Ford. Lots of shopping centers and a hospital within a couple of miles. One caveat: Some of the rooms have a strong fireplace or gas pilot-light odor and windows in the old house are almost impossible to open. Check room upon arrival.

Room Tip: As mentioned above, check room upon arrival for fireplace or gas pilot-light odor.

I found this BnB on Trip Advisor and struggled for 2 weeks trying to decide if we could afford it for our 10 yr anniversary. We stayed and it was worth every penny!

Our room was the Herb Cottage. Tiny, charming, wonderful. Huge attached deck. The main house is gorgeous and rich with Hollywood history. The pool and winery barn also wonderful.

Do some internet research on magazine articles about this place if you are struggling with the price.

From here, we visited Nemours Mansion and had dinner in west Chester and Wilmington. We had planned to do more but opted to stay on the property instead.

Pet and child friendly as well.

My family spent 3 nights here during a Spring Break trip in the Philly area and found this to be a wonderful and serene spot as a base for our travels in the area. The location was great and Philadelphia was an easy drive, Longwood Gardens is close as were other Brandywine Valley attractions like Winterthur. The farm itself is very picturesque and our two children greatly enjoyed just running around as well as having the opportunity to feed the farm animals (horses, sheep). They have a winery that they've started up recently in a very photogenic barn on site as well. Very quaint and the staff were quite friendly and helpful.

Sweetwater Farm absolutely exceeded our expectations. Hemphill Cottage was beautiful, cozy, and romantic. The staff was available yet non-intrusive. We ordered the Romance package and were pleased to find juicy chocolate covered strawberries (that were in season), Chardonnay, and a lavendar rose bouquet in our room when we arrived. The breakfast in bed was amazing...everything from the scones to the spinach and sausage quiche. We will definitely go back again!

Sweetwater Farm is tucked away in the quiet reaches of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Away from highways and noise, this oasis in the southeast of the state offers a charming setting of tranquility and beauty.

I attended a wedding at Sweetwater in May of 2012. The property begins with the main house; a grand home, exquisitely decorated with the integrity of the period and a nod to the modern influences of today. Off the back of the house is a grand porch with an assortment of wicker chairs and loveseats overlooking the grounds, which includes a fenced area with free-roaming horses.

The kitchen provides wonderful food and hosted a brunch on the patio for the wedding guests under a canopy which also overlooked the grounds.

The rooms are incredibly charming. Small, quaint quarters with a galley kitchen, mini refrigerator, microwave and enough cookware and glasses to prepare a meal. The built-in fireplace added an ambiance few hotels can manage. Because the property is small, there are only about 8 cottages, one grand cottage and a farmhouse that can host events and receptions.

In my area, I have never seen a more beautiful place to get away!

Room Tip: I highly recommend the grand cottage for a family stay. It is spacious and has all the amenities yo...
