“Never called back re: billing issue”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

Hotel has been revamped from a much older property. It is OK. Nice location on a river, next to a small park. I travel with my job and used points to stay here. I was charged by HIE when I made the reservation, yet also charged by the property upon checkout. I left a message for the hotel manager, who has yet to call me back; thus, customer service for this property is totally unacceptable. Be aware of billing duplicates with no call back.

This hotel is located on the water with a great tiki bar next door (that gives 1/2 off an appetizer to hotel guests) as well as an interesting historical park. It's a little far from the airport, but they have a complimentary shuttle twice an hour.

The shuttle driver was not the friendliest or most professional, maybe he was having a bad day, but he got us to the airport.

I'm not sure any rooms have a good view the way the hotel is situated, but the rooms have high-end wood windows with internal blinds.

I was on a roll-away, so I can't comment on the standard bed. The room had plenty of space for the roll-away.

The bathroom is cramped, but the showerhead was good as was the water pressure and temperature.

They do provide a breakfast with a make-your-own pancake machine, some cereals, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, artificially sweetened yogurt, etc. but no fruit.

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on our hotel and I have shared your comments with the management staff. Our main concern was your comment in regard to the shuttle driver. We have held one on one meeting’s with each driver to go over your concern as that was unacceptable. Please accept our apology.

We were in town for a Phillies game and a trip to the Simeon Auto Museum. The pricing for the rooms around town seemed very inflated, so we took a chance on this Holiday Inn Express. It's kind of out of the way, but when we finally arrived, I felt it'd be okay. (Look! Boats!)

The front desk clerk was very nice, even though she'd just been swamped by a casino tour bus, and we were checked in quickly and politely.

The room was just an room. Although it was done in completely beige. Who knew there were so many shades of beige? There were gaps between the door and the frame, which, in the big scheme of things, is no big deal. It was just weird seeing light thru the cracks in the door all night. We could see the water from our room, and that was nice. Although we had a better of the parking lot of the club next door.

There was a restaurant next door, and our keycard gave us half price appetizers, but it turned into a nightclub at 9 or 10 o'clock, so we opted to explore Essington a little bit, and find dinner there. We ended up at Lehman's Restaurant, which is just so fabulously old school! (Review of that coming shortly, yo)

The next morning we tried breakfast, and the casino bus people were there. Joe and I walked around the park next door, and admired the boats in the water, and watched a lot of planes take off from PHL.

The breakfast area was still full of casino travelers, so we went to the back of the hotel and had our breakfast and coffee, 'on the water', in the gazebo.

All in all, it was a good stay, I'm just sad it's a littler farther out from the city than we wanted to be. However, for the price, it was totally worth a little drive. I'll consider this one for another stay when we're in Philly.

I got the first room on the 1st floor right next to some lot with a bunch of ratty boats) and some people right outside of my window blasted a diesel engine while trying to fix some boat. I was exhausted and just needed sleep so I put ear plugs in. The windows are very thin on this room and have weird blinds in between the glass so you can't see out if you wanted. It is clean and not bad for a nights stay near the airport, 9 miles away at another H.I. Would have been $200-300.Maybe the rooms upstairs are better.

Thank you for your valuable input. Our hotel is located next to a marina on the Delaware River. The comment you brought to our attention has been rectified as we have worked with the marina to establish times in which a boat can be worked on or not so as not to disturb our guests. Thank you.

We were bumped from a flight to Brussels and needed a room for the night. We chose the Holiday Inn Express from the list of the airport with hotels with shuttle service. We expected to be disappointed because airport hotels are often so pricey . We were very pleasantly surprised. The shuttle driver and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful, The Deck restaurant next door was excellent and the adjacent park was a good place to sit on a bench and watch the passing scene. The hotel shuttle took us back to the airport in the morning and driver told us how to catch the light rail into the city center. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: We didn't have a room with a view but it didn't matter, we simply stepped outside for the vi...

At first glance, this looked like one of the better Holiday Inn Express Hotels. Very friendly & helpful front desk staff who gave us directions down to South Philly for a world reknown Cheesesteak. The hotel appears to be an older property, tired & slow elevator, smaller rooms than other Holiday Inn Express properties. We had a very noisy A/C in our room, a ceiling fan in the bathroom sounded as though it was loosing a bearing and made quiet a racket. The sleep experience was good, comfortable beds, but another hulk in the hallway at 1:30 AM woke us up. Breakfast was good; scrambled eggs, bagels, cinammon rolls etc. No newspaper in the AM, a bummer for us old guys that like to read with our AM coffee. There is nothing about this property that could not be addressed with a little TLC on the part of management & maintenance.

Room Tip: Make sure your A/C cycles without being too noisy.

Thank you for your valuable input. Our Holiday Inn Express is an older property that just 1 year ago went through an extensive renovation earning the hotel IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) 2011 Renovation Award.
