“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

I lived in this motel for months as a contractor for a local company. The upside is that the monthly rate is 650 a month. The downside is that the place is run down and apparently hasn't received maintenance in years. Paint scrapes and peeling are evident all throughout the inside. The carpet is worn and stained and the wall paper needs replacing. Plus the hallways are freezing in the winter. All that aside, my room was okay. The bed was good, the shower was hot and the pressure was adequate, the tv was basic cable on an old set, the wifi was decent, and the room was quiet. The quietness comes from the fact that not too many people opt to stay here, especially for months on end. The monthly wing was almost empty of guests. This works out well in terms of plenty of hot water and gobs of wifi bandwidth. Mostly, the guests consists of truck drivers and construction workers who need a cheap place to stay for the weekend. Canadian shoppers will also frequent over a weekend. As stated, the place is worn down and dated but it does not ode of being dangerous. If you like 'do it yourself' waffles in the morning, this is your place. In fact, all they serve are waffles, bagels and coffee. The restaurant is surprisingly good and has a number of visitors from the area. The bar has a very dated 1970's feel to it. But it beats having to drive to a bar for entertainment and risking drinking too much.

For some reason, overnight accommodations in Erie are overpriced relative to quality. We tried this VERY inexpensive option, and those seeking a value should know what they are signing up for with this property. It is VERY, VERY, VERY dated. If you want to relive the experience of what it would be like to follow Elvis on tour in the early 1970s, you simply need to visit the bar. If you opt for the modest breakfast, you can have that experience (since it is served in the bar) after 6:00 am in the morning. The paint is peeling in the shower, the room smells stale and of smokers past, and the carpets suggest that you keep your shoes on when you would much rather shed them after a long day. One corridor even offers four vintage video gaming machines from the early 1980s. All that said, the property is clean, and the staff is helpful, welcoming and friendly.

The pictures and the first initial look at the ammenities say.... wow bargain. Second hand smoke abounds... Overall grimy... housekeeping does what it needs to get by... We were afraid to try the free breakfast... I am sure that they must have to meet some health standards but better safe than sorry. One person working both breakfast and the front desk. In front of us, there were two people waiting to check out ... both of these had been quoted one price and billed another... AND sure enough they tried to bill us $15.00 more... Do yourself a favor and add pay $20 or $30 dollars more and stay somewhere that you are not afraid that something is going to crawl on you.

Room Tip: Do not stay here!

At first glance the room seemed ok, a little dated but, hey, we werent paying for luxury. A closer look and, well, yuck. My wife tried drawing a bath for our girls and couldnt get the drain plug closed for all the hair. She spent five minutes pulling it out. The tub mat was caulked to the tub but was peeling up. Underneath was disgusting. The bathroom light switch looks like it has never been cleaned. We found an old wet baby-type wash cloth hanging beneath our clean towels on the rack. We had almost no toilet paper, just two very partial rolls. We pulled the comforter off the bed to sleep and the underside was stained, some spots appeared to be blood. We wont be back regardless of price!

Upon entering the Lobby we were greeted by the overwhelming and nauseating smell of second hand smoke. There was no one in reception--a phone said dial--whatever, it rang into the room behind the desk where there was no one. I waited in the stink for over 15 minutes for someone to come and check me in. The water in the pool was green and other guests were throwing garbage into it. Moldy bathroom that didn't have a working fan-- room safe was broken, toilet paper hadn't been refilled, kleenex box was almost empty, beds were uncomfortable, lumpy pillows, breakfast was offered on styrofoam plates with plastic cutlery, no cream for coffee. It just wasn't an experience I would repeat. On the plus side the staff were friendly and tried to make our stay pleasant. There were no bugs that I could see.

Room Tip: Always check your beds before paying for the room.
