We usually pre-book a room based on how long we wish to drive, but this time we decided to just drive and find a hotel. Big mistake! We had driven all day, using our GPS we saw a Comfort listed not far from the expressway near Eire ,PA. We have used Comfort Inns before and have never had a problem. Until this stay.
The first clue should have been when the front desk personnel was on the phone for several minutes. She didn't even acknowledge us with eye contact or a head nod. Very rude and unprofessional. She could have just said "I'll be right with you"
Finally registered after the front desk person got off the phone and got our key to a second floor room. Then we were informed that there was no elevator. No big deal, but we should have been told that before we registered.
Next the price ($69 plus approximately $10 in taxes) should have been a warning. We were extremely tired and it did not register that it was a very low price. We are used to paying more for a Comfort.
Brushed our teeth and went to bed. Next morning we started to notice dings to wall, dingy carpeting, broken lamp shades, rusty floor lamp bases, stained tub surround, broken tiles in the bathroom, etc (see photos). The worst thing was we found 3 dark hairs on our tub surround walls YUCK!!! (again see photos)
Went downstairs for the free breakfast buffet. Typical stuff: toast, donuts, danish, cereal, 3 waffle machines. Let's see: carbs, carbs and more carbs. The only item I could eat was the scrambled eggs that were dried on the edges (see photo) But, you do have to check out my photo of the bananas they had available - a grocery store would be embarrassed to sell anything that looked like that.
The final blow was on our bill was a charge for the in-room safe for $1.50. REALLY!!!!
The only positive thing was we slept well (extremely tired or good soundproofing)
Don't pick a room -RUN AWAY!

I sincerely want to apologize that the hotel did not meet your standards during your recent stay. If you would like to discuss your issues with us personally so we can communicate with you we would greatly appreciate you contacting us either at the hotel directly or through our email address of firstname.lastname@example.org We are in the process of undergoing our 1st renovation since opening over 25 years ago and would love for you to come back and see us again after the changes are complete. I have personally spoken with the Executive Housekeeper concerning the cleanliness issues you encountered and they have been addressed with the pertinant housekeeper. I have also done a retraining with all of my front desk agents on acknowledging guests as they enter the hotel no matter what they are doing. I appreciate your feedback and please know that it has been invaluable in improving our facility overall and our guest customer service. Again, please feel free to contact us directly if you would like to discuss your issues.
