I have been visiting the Erie Zoo since I was a child. For a better part of 20 years, it stayed the same. I am happy to see new improved exhibits and new animals. The elephant exhibit has been replaced with a great Asia section featuring Orangutans, Red Pandas, and monkeys. The tiger exhibit is much improved. Gone is the deep trench keep the animals away from the viewing public. They now allow the public get up close and personal with a new glass wall and covered viewing area. The newer cheetah has been replaced with African Wild Dogs. They have recently added a walk way to view the zebras. Old favorites remain the same. The barn, bears and lions are right where they always have been. Along with the giraffes and monkeys. The Children's zoo is much improved. New educational huts and play area are great, along with the addition of many animals. They now have penguins, an alligator, and kangaroos. The train is also an old favorite. Although the "spooky tunnel" in brighter then I remember, the ride is just as fun. They now have free roaming animals like deer to go along with the turtles.
The zoo lay out has not changed, which is great. Follow the loop and you will be fine. A great zoo. I can't wait to see what they add next!
