Quaker Steak and Lube was somewhat of an after thought on a snowy trip down to Erie, PA this past Christmas break. We spent the afternoon at Splash Lagoon and while in there, it snowed like 6-7” in the 5 hours. We were more in the mood for a buffet type meal but the nearby one was closed due the storm. So we ventured across the street to QS&L. Lo and behold, it ends up being $4.99 burger nite (every Thurs)! Regular prices are $8-10 for their ½ lb burgers. Everyone in the family had a different one, and they all looked great. In pictures, I included one of my 10 year old chomping on a Mac N Cheese burger.
The Texas melt was also delicious. Oozing with cheese and just enough bacon, lettuce and tomato to top it off. Make no mistake, this is a burger an wing joint but if you want to, there are salads available.
Now to the fun part…You have to try at least something off the wing menu. There’s like 25-30 different sauces each unique in flavor and a different level of heat ranging from tame to insane! We just had to try the Atomic challenge. 150,000 Scoville units of heat and not for the weak at heart. That wasn’t even the hottest! There’s also a Triple Atomic that is 500,000 Scoville units but we couldn’t bring ourselves to try after the waitress said “Do you want me to bring your burgers out first so you can enjoy them?”. She was right. Big n juicy wings coated in very hot and full of flavour sauce. Mouth-numbing to say the least.
The service was excellent and for 5 burgers, 4 pints of Bud (also on special that night) and an appetizer course of mild wings, the bill came to around $60. Can you beat that?
