“A good stopover in Erie”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

My husband and I were passing through Erie on our road trip to Cooperstown, and we chose to stay at the Country Inn & Suites. The hotel's location is superb--just off I-90 and Hwy 19, it's simple to get to the hotel (but away from the noise of the interstate) and then easy to drive into downtown Erie.

The staff at the front desk and in the breakfast room were the high-quality folks we have come to expect at Country Inn & Suites; Zach was especially helpful in orienting us to the city (we'd forgotten our map!) and restaurant possibilities.

Our room was on the small side but well-appointed (fridge, microwave, free wi-fi, etc) and quiet, and we slept well. The breakfast was great, as always--waffles, sausage, eggs, pastries, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt--and a perfect start to our morning's drive.

The fitness room had two treadmills and a recumbent bicycle, and no weight equipment. There is a pool which I saw a family enjoying.

The price was higher than other Country Inn & Suites we've stayed at, but that may be because Erie is a more expensive city.

Overall, this isn't a destination stop, but a worthwhile way-station on your way through the Great Lakes area.

Room Tip: The water pressure in our shower was fairly low; this may be because we were on the 3rd floor. Pres...

Booked a room, paid for it and when I arrived learned it had been given away to another person. When I arrived the front desk person who botched my reservation acted like it was just too bad for me. Well thank goodness I can let everyone know that I was misled by inept staff who can't even block a room that has been bought and paid for.

Stayed here for several nights as the shopping us good in this area. Stayed in a suite which was clean and quiet. Breakfast is good and near places to eat in the area for other meals. Noticed alot of our of state licence plates in the parking lot and this motel is cheaper to stay at compared to the Hampton Inn located next store. Liked tthe fast check in and free USA Today newspaper provided for free when staying here. No complains noted during our stayed here.

Room Tip: Located near a major highway.

Booked a room for an extra night as the hotel across was sold out. Great impression when booking, nice clean reception area. Booked a queen suite. The room was totally disgusting, food crumbs on the beds and chair, dead flies on the window sill, flthy dirty mirrors (not sure they even used windex), dirty used socks, candy on the floor and the worst part, ants in the bathroom. After two complaints to the front desk they moved us to another room on the 3rd floor which was definitely a step up in cleanliness but not by much...the glass and TV screens have definiately not seen cleaning in quite some time...streak marks and finger prints all over in this room also but at least no ants. Aside from the dirtiness and low cleaning standard, the staff was great, the pool area was very nice (and clean) and the free breakfast was very nice and it was tasty. For the price however, I expected at least the rooms to have a higher standard of cleanliness especially with the glass doors separating the rooms. Probably would not stay here again, Id recommend paying the $10 extra and try the Hampton next time.

Room Tip: Bring your own cleaning supplies, streaks marks all over and they dont believe in windex....ant spra...

This hotel is very quiet even though the doors are thin. It is in a great location just off the hwy. with lots of restaurants nearby and a gas station next door for easy fill up. The beds are firm with duvets and they supply nice toiletries. The pool was warm and the hot tub was actually a bit too hot. The fitness room has a bike and 2 treadmills. The breakfast was very good and the staff are very nice.

My family and I stayed at the Country Inn & Suites after having to leave another motel in the area for noise difficulties. We were quite pleased with the Country Inn & Suites. We did experience some problems in room 318. The back of the bathroom door had a hole punched in it apparently from a domestic dispute that had occurred sometime earlier. A new door was on order. The toilet was loose on its’ floor mountings. It still worked but it would move under the guest. When we reported it the front desk called someone in to repair it. The repair people were waiting to get in when we checked out the next morning.
Other than those two things we totally enjoyed our stay and would return without hesitation. The rooms are large and very clean. The breakfast was great. Much better than we have experienced at other places. The staff was polite and helpful. The kids used the pool and hot tub and said they were both clean and well maintained. It’s a good place to stay; five minutes from the mall.
