“Great time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Just returned from a weekend at Splash Lagoon. Now that our kids are teens we "splurged" for the Residence Inn, and it was great! The check-in was quick and efficient, and our room was great. There was a little wear on some of the furniture , but I think that is to be expected for a family hotel. We had a one bedroom suite with a fireplace. The bathroom had a huge hot tub like bathtub! The only down side to that was that the bathroom was located in the master bedroom and my kids kept coming in wanting to use it ! Our room was on the first floor , steps away from the Splash Lagoon entrance, yet we did not hear a lot of noise. And it was so convenient--no need for a locker at the water park! For anyone with a little bit older kids this is much nicer than the other connected hotels.

Room Tip: I would ask for the first floor , just for the convenience of the water park! Go to breakfast as soo...

Great getaway for families, horrible stay for the business person. Noisy. Noisy. Noisy. The toilet wouldn't stop running, but I fixed that for them free of charge. The desk doesn't have extra outlets for a laptop. I sat at the eating area table to finish my work while some child across the hall yelled out EEEEEeeeeeee morning, noon, and night. My colleague, staying a floor above, heard this as well. The rooms were large and clean, typical Residence Inn style/furniture. Breakfast was inconsistent, odd eggs some day, while excellent on others. Thank goodness for free beer at 6pm. A better choice for business travel would be the Fairfield Inn, another Marriott property by the Erie Mall. Unless you are specifically going to Splash Lagoon...look elsewhere.

We enjoyed our recent trip to Erie, PA. This hotel is located right off the freeway and within 1/2 mile of tons of shopping (Walmart, Sam's Club, etc).

In summary, there are many nice features and if you can get a good price go for it.

The rooms are suites. Ours had a fireplace with a timer. The kids loved it after being cold from swimming. The kitchen had a little stove and a FULL fridge, even a DISHWASHER. This room is Fancy! Granite, contemporary design. It is showing some age, but not too badly. There are WASHING MACHINES. This is like a high-end apartment, really.

They allow dogs for a daily non-refundable fee.

It had a huge Jacuzzi tub but it just wasn't new enough looking to consider using it for our kids. Bring something to clean it with if you are serious about using it. Something about the peach color looked a little dirty/old, even though I know it is newer.

The cost is expensive, hundreds per night. Try to negotiate the cost.

We were in a studio suite next to the elevators and the washing machines on a 100% fully booked night. I never heard anything, though, other than a few screaming kids in the AM.

Nice breakfast buffet- eggs and waffles too! Also we had gravy and biscuits.

**TIPS: If you are here for Splash Lagoon, You can't be much closer than this hotel. They are connected by a short hallway. There is also a small pool and decent hot tub open until midnight, which we loved. There is a basketball court and tennis court too! Ask if they are open and bring your gear.

If you haven't been to Splash Lagoon before, consider it carefully. The cost is insane ($50 PER DAY). But, even if you aren't going to Splash Lagoon, this is a good hotel. It was fully booked and we still had a great time at the hotel.

**Biggest downside: I can sleep anywhere for one night, but this bed was NOT comfortable. It literally had a ledge that made you roll into the center, so my husband and I struggled all night and both woke up with sore backs. If you have a sore back, you might want to ask if they have rooms with newer mattresses. Supposedly the whole thing is newly renovated, though, so I don't know what the deal is with the bad mattresses.

Room Tip: if noise bothers you, consider asking for a room away from the elevator and away from the washing ma...

Just returned from an overnight stay at the Residence Inn (attached to Splash Lagoon) and I have to say I was happy with the place. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of room in our one bedroom suite; although we did have 2 of the one bedroom suite because there was 7 of us in our party. We were on the first floor and it was not bad; we were at the end of hall so the noise level was very, very low. It was short walk from our room to Splash Lagoon (which was great). My kids thoroughly enjoyed the indoor pool (not very large) but nice size. The breakfast buffet wasn't bad (some of the food wasn't hot - like the eggs and the sausage gravy); other than that the food good. The staff was friendly and it was nice that the front desk calls you shortly after you arrive in your room to see if you need anything (nice touch). I would recommend this hotel in the future and would return with my family also.

Room Tip: Corner rooms on first floor were fairly quiet. Try to avoid room 101 because the room smelled like...

Rooms are not bad, beds arnt the most comfortable. Very noisy. Don't plan on staying here if your not with your kids.
You can walk right into Splash Lagoon with your swim suit on. Lots if food choices delivered right to the room.

This was the only hotel left that was connected to Splash Lagoon so we took it. We (myself, daughter, granddaughter (2) and grandson (3)) stayed in a studio, room #317, and it was perfect. The room was clean, we had a jacuzzi ,fireplace and a full kitchen. Although we did not cook, it was nice having the fridge with kids. The couch was L shaped and was perfect that we were not all sitting on top of each other. Little disappointed we could not get into our room till 4pm but we were given a voucher to redeem at Splash Lagoon so our water adventure could start sooner rather then later. Staff and service was pleasant and efficient. Splash Lagoon was pretty crowded but no surprise since it was a Saturday. The entrance to waterpark from our hotel led right into the toddler area and could not have been more perfect. We live about 45 minutes from Erie and while we have been to Erie many times, this was our first trip to this hotel & waterpark. Grandkids loved it and we will definitely be going back!

We wanted to go on a trip to an indoor waterpark this past weekend for spring break that was close to home. From Rochester NY this is a 3 hour trip which is no big deal. Same day reservation were pretty much booked on a Saturday of spring break. It took almost a half hour of hold time on the phone but we got the last room available in all three connecting hotels and were willing to pay whatever to be connected to the water park. (For waterpark review see the one I wrote for Splash Lagoon) The location is fabulous. There is everything located within two blocks from the hotel. I'm not talking about you can find whatever you need, I talking there is an over abundance of every single store (including the mall) you could possibly ever imagine. Almost overwhelming but convenient. The hotel is immediately off the I-90 which makes it even nicer for out of towners. Once arriving, the front desk customer service was out standing. Being a Marriott preferred customer who spends weeks sometimes in their facilities, I was severely disappointed in the quality of the hotel. For the price of $200 per night plus taxes, which does not include the waterpark passes I expect the hotel to be in pristine condition. There is only one elevator which was slow as molasses and knowing that it was busy breakfast hour, i found half the time it was an employee in it when the doors opened five minutes later. If you don't have a cart, the elevator should be for guests only. It's only three flights. Why should I have to take the stairs so an employee doesnt have to? The beds were so very uncomfortable, my neck still hurts. The holes in the walls were patched poorly with pieces of matching wallpaper that werent even lined up properly or glued completely down. The bathroom shelf was falling down, there was rust on the toilet paper holder. The fireplace and the dishwasher were both broken. The jacuzzi tub has cracks in the tub and on the walls. It was a disaster. You have to keep in mind that they have to deal with little bad kids running around constantly tearing up stuff but that is no excuse if you are going to charge me Marriott prices. Had I not found these issues, it would have been well worth the money to stay. Breakfast was the normal continental breakfast with waffle makers and such. Normally the kids have to wait to make a waffle at other continentals but the line kept moving at a nice pace. My son found a hair on the top of the stack of plates so he wouldn't even eat which means I had to come out of pocket to take him to an early lunch. I would imagine all three of the connecting hotels are in the same condition. We will be going back to Splash Lagoon now that we found the treasure so close to home but I am going to research the prices of the multiple hotels across the street. So, I suppose it will depend on the price if its worth not having to go outside and cross the road in the winter.
