Shakespeare's is as close as Ellwood gets to fine dining. The restaurant is a castle, which sits beautifully in front of a world class golf course open to public play. The view over the course from the upstairs dining area is excellent. Also, behind the restaurant they have a large Koi pond and seating. It really is neat to walk around.
As far as the dining goes, my kids love it when we go to eat at "The Castle." There is a large dining area on the first floor with private sections for larger parties. Also, as I mentioned, the second floor also has an area that can be reserved for parties/functions.
Up until the last time we ate there the experience had been flawless. Unfortunately, that time the food wasn't up to it's usual standard. My steak was undercooked, and my wife's looked like they found it behind the grill. She also tried the apple pie, and it was over seasoned. We were very disappointed to spend so much money on poor food.
The bright spot was the waitress. She knew the menu by heart and didn't even bother to write
down our order. Everything came out perfect on her end of it. Also, she was quick with the drinks and the check arrived promptly as we finished our meals.
