“Calm from the storm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2009

My husband and I had to make a last minute trip from Maine to Ohio to see a terminally ill relative. The trip was long, exhausting and we arrived very late. (around 1 am) I had just recieved the call about a half hour before checking in the my uncle had lost his fight with cancer. It goes without saying that we were emotionally and physically drained when we checked in. What we needed most was a quiet room and a decent nights sleep. We got so much more.

Let me just get the "con" out of the way now. The girl who checked us in did not like her job at all. My husband is a Choice Hotel employee and when I handed her the employee discount card she noticed that he was also a night auditor. She remarked about how boring the job was. As soon as the paper work was done she went back to her cell phone. I was in no mood to deal with rude behavior but I was also exhausted and just gave in to the need for sleep.

Now for the "pros." The hotel is less than a year old and very well kept. The parking lot is spacious. The hotel is next to a couple gas stations, Wendys and a strip mall with a Wal-Mart. It is right off the interstate but we never heard any traffic noise. The hotel is spacious with a large breakfast/lobby area. It is an all suite hotel so naturally the rooms are larges than the standard hotel room but I still have to comment that there was more than enough room for 2 people to comfortably enjoy the room. On the bed is a menu of pillow choices if your not happy with the pillows on the bed or need more. On the dresser was a jar with fresh cookies. Yummy!! The hotel offers a manager's reception and I really liked that they advertised that by placing a sticker with information on a party hat. Great idea!! The bathroom was incredibly spacious with a very nice wide shower head that gave a rainfall like spray. The wall mounted plasma TV was easily seen from the bed or the couch. I loved the large window! And the bed was so comfortable!! Five stars for that alone! The breakfast is far beyond the normal. They have both hot and cold options, a variety of juices, milks, coffee and tea. There is a room just off the lobby with a computer, printer and some basic supplies. Much appreciated! The in room wireless was very reliable and fast! We did not use the pool or weight room but we take a peek in each and were impressed. Just outside the breakfast area is a large patio with a beautiful view. The housekeeping staff was polite, prompt and thorough.

On the way back from Ohio we ran into a horrible storm and had to change or reservation from a hotel in NY to this hotel and once again we were not disappointed. When we arrived the manager's reception was within 30 - 40 minutes of ending. Due to the storm a large number of guests had stayed in or had to return and so the food was almost gone. The manager actually asked us what we would like to eat and he was going to go pick that up. Wow! We declined but he insisted. After our meal he asked if everything was okay and at that time we mentioned that we had just returned from a funeral and were exhausted and would be happy just to get some sleep. At this time he truly floored us. He asked if there was anything he could to make our night more relaxing. We both work in hotels and travel often and have never had anyone ask us that. What a great management team!! There was a group of rowdy construction workers at the reception but the noise did not carry over into the rooms.

I could go on and on about this hotel. But let me just end with this. My husband and I will go out of our way anytime we are remotely near the Edinboro Comfort Suites to stay there!

Booked online for a 2 double suite. $89. The hotel was very clean, very nice. The staff was everywhere cleaning and asking how they could help. Friendly!! The suite was large, 2 comfortable beds, 4 comfy pillows with a menu of other pillow types on request from the front desk. There was an ample closet/drawer space with iron/board. Microwave and small fridge concealed in credenza. Flat screen TV/cable/HBO. Desk with HS internet in addition to WIFI. The small half wall divided the living space: sofa, chair end table, etc.
The pool and jacuzzi area immaculate and towels in abundance.
Breakfast area with fireplace separating comfortable lobby area is large, clean with beautiful views of surrounding countryside.
Nice hot/cold food-standard eggs/bacon/sausage. Waffles, breads, fruits, yogurts, etc. Very , very well done. All in all I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The desk/cleaning/wait staff are excellent and just plain nice. One employee offered to show us the way to our restaurant on her way home.

We had spent all day driving in the rain. We checked in to find that a Manager's reception was being held that night---burgers and the works (potato salad, fruit, etc.). Not having to go out for supper was sooo appreciated. Plus, there was also plenty of room to sit. (In good weather this is held on the patio with a lovely view.)
The hotel is new, so all is nice. Rooms are very nicely decorated and appointed. They do need more light; there were some dark spaces in the room.

A great place to stay while checking out the Edinboro University campus. Rooms were clean, neat and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the usual fair but well supplied and clean presentation. The suites are located just off 79 and 2 miles from the campus. After a 5 hour drive, this property was an inviting place to stay. If we are in town again, we will be sure to book at the Comfort Suites in Edinboro.

This was a brand new hotel (about 3 months old according to our friend in Erie) and 100% smoke/pet free. Check in/out was very speedy, staff was abundant and helpful, the lobby beautiful and the rooms pristine. The hot continental breakfast was good (sausage gravey & biscuits, belgian waffles, pastries, muffins, bagels, yogurt, cereal, grapes and cheese, etc). The room was exactly as pictured on the website, complete with flat screen tv, desk, loveseat, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron/ironing board, hairdryer and shaving mirror. The room and common areas were very clean. The pool is fairly small, although we did not use it. We stayed at this hotel during a weekend visit to Erie, PA. After reading the reviews and seeing the prices for Erie area hotels, I was petrified. However, this hotel was plenty close enough to Erie and at a great price. The town of Edinboro is a very small and quiet college town. There are several bars and pizza places. Aside from the bars, Perkins stays open until midnight and one pizza place (John's) is open for the after-bar crowds. This hotel is right off I-79, next to a gas station and across from a Wal-Mart shopping plaza. Fast food restaurants can also be found in town. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Erie, although be sure to make your reservations in advance! On Saturday night the hotel was at capacity and sending people to a local place with bad reviews or over two hours away in any direction to other available hotels!
