Description: Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Marblehead was created by Jeff and Noreen Mohler (Cap'n Clawed Lobster and Lady Bisque), who also owned the Aspen Inn and New Street BridgeWorks, both in Bethlehem. Prior to getting into the restaurant business almost three decades ago, Jeff had a long and varied career in teaching, journalism, professional sports management and marketing. Noreen, now a nationally ranked senior amateur golfer, previously played on the LPGA tour and was the women's amateur champion in three different states - RI, MA and PA. She recently was named Captain for the 2010 United States Curtis Cup team, which will compete against Great Britain and Ireland in June 2010 at Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, not too far from Marblehead. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

“Great service, OK food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

My wife and I had a date night and this is a well reviewed place we've not visited before.
Made Friday reservation for 6pm, surprising number of cars in the lot and only a few open tables at that point - was full from 7 to 8pm that night.
Having grown up at the shore I was somewhat amused by all the nautical themed decorations in Easton, but it was done very tastefully.
Service was great, and all the "rate us on TripAdvisor" and "like us on Facebook" requests showed they were looking to keep up with the times.
Unfortunately both my wife and I did not feel the food lived up to the reviews, it was certainly OK but nothing special. We both had Lobster Bisque - hate to say but ShopRite gourmet take out is better, she had crusted cod which she liked and I had their unique Lobster pie. I liked it since it was different but the taste was just good, not outstanding.
Overall good value for the money, this is a good restaurant in Easton.

My husband and I recently dined at Marblehead for our 44th anniversary. The atmosphere, servce and food are always outstanding, and make every visit special. We recommend the crab pierogies. Our favorite! They are an excellant choice for an appitizer. Their seafood is always fresh and will never disappoint you! We have so many favorite dishes, it's hard to choose. If you are visiting the Lehigh Valley, don't miss this dining experience!

“Turned-on to Seafood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

If you are in the beautiful Lehigh Valley, you would be remiss if you didn't visit Marblehead Chowder House! My husband and I have been many times and always have a fantastic culinary experience. Recently, we took our twin sons on Valentine's Day. Not only did they accept my 1 day-expired birthday coupon, but they turned my son on to seafood. His comment about the Crab Pierogies......"Wow, these are awesome!" Save room for the Funnel Cake Sundae too!
