Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Marblehead was created by Jeff and Noreen Mohler (Cap'n Clawed Lobster and Lady Bisque), who also owned the Aspen Inn and New Street BridgeWorks, both in Bethlehem. Prior to getting into the restaurant business almost three decades ago, Jeff had a long and varied career in teaching, journalism, professional sports management and marketing. Noreen, now a nationally ranked senior amateur golfer, previously played on the LPGA tour and was the women's amateur champion in three different states - RI, MA and PA. She recently was named Captain for the 2010 United States Curtis Cup team, which will compete against Great Britain and Ireland in June 2010 at Essex County Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, not too far from Marblehead. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

“Gem of the Lehigh Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

The food is fabulous. Atmosphere and service is on par with the food.
We highly recommend eating here if you like only the best fresh fish.

“Fantastic Dining Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

My wife and I have been very satisfied customers, of Marblehead Chowder House, for many years. The quality of the food is exceptional and the menu is quite varied. Meat and sea food lovers will be equally pleased. The service is always good and many servers go above and beyond to ensure you have a great dining experience. The Captain's Club is well worth the price of admission, nothing. You receive points based on the food portion of your bill and you get a $20.00 gift voucher for every 250 points. Also, throughout the year there are many other incentives and games for which you get coupons and prizes. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff very friendly.

“Great Seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

This was some of the best seafood we have ever eaten and we eat lots of seafood. The service was great. The food was nicely prepared. The only problem was there were too many choices. We would definetly return when we were in the area.

“Seafood close to home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

Marblehead Grille and Chowder is where we go when a seafood craving strikes!
We have been there many times and usually mix up what we have.
If you want good crab cakes, this is the place to go. Lots of sweet, tender crab!
What I like about Marblehead is that the menu allows a great selection at many price levels.
It is not all seafood by any means. One of my husbands favorite meals is the chicken parm.
There are several selection that combine the yummy taste of filet mignon with chunks of crab meat atop.
The service is always pleasant. It is a must to join the rewards program. Marblehead gives the best perks I have ever seen.
Even when dessert is not an option (because you are stuffed!) a small treasure chest with salt water taffy and hard candies are brought to enjoy.
I highly recommend Marblehead and would suggest calling for reservations, as this is a very busy place! Go and enjoy!
