We stayed here in 2008, when it was still the Shannon Inn. At the time, the exterior was undergoing renovation, but the interior was just standard for an older, cheaper place. Despite several bad reviews from around the same time and earlier, we were pleased with our stay and gave the place a "4" out of 5. Bear in mind this is relative to the price--for $65/night in 2008, what did folks expect?
Note that our stay was in July of 2010, not 2011, but the Trip Advisor system doesn't have any 2010 selections--but we wanted to update since our first review in 2008. When we stayed here again, it was after the conversion to a Days Inn. While still a decent value, our stay wasn't quite as good. There was a very unpleasant odor in the room just outside the bathroom, and the carpet wasn't very clean overall. I didn't notice a huge improvement in room appointments. We still loved the pool, and the water temperature was perfect, but they kept running out of clean, dry towels. The food and service at the on-site restaurant are fantastic--best meals we've had both times we've visited the area were here.
Would probably stay here again, mainly because of the reasonable rates and the pool, which we all love. And the location is so convenient to many places. We'll definitely keep the Blue Tequila on our list of must-eat-at places. But this place is NOISY--there are people always running up and down the outside corridor at all hours of the night, parties going on both inside and outside of rooms. It would be really nice if the management would either create or enforce some rules so that all their guests might enjoy their stay better!
To be fair, this was more than a year ago, and we'll probably give it more shot next time we go up, but if the room's not cleaner and the place is still as noisy as a bar on a Friday night, we'll not be back.

The management at the Days Inn, East Stroudsburg takes all of our guest comments seriously and investigates every comment in an effort to enhance our guests’ experiences. We apologize for the noise as Restaurant and bar on the property stays open late on Friday and Saturday night. They also play loud music on Saturday night. We always try to give guests rooms away from the restaurant to have good sleep if they are not here for restaurant or bar. In case if guest have any concern or issues, it is advisable to notify the front desk of the issue, so they can take care of it. We will definitely use your valuable feedback to improve our service. We know you have a choice in hotels and we are delighted that you chose ours. We hope to see you again!
