“Best kept secret in Doylestown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2012

There is nothing to dislike about this place. BYO, and everything on the menu is delicious. The cream of crab is excellent and so is everything else there.

“Beware! Soup is extremely hot and salty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2011

We went to this restaurant twice in one month to see if we would have the same reaction to the food the second time. The atmosphere is loud as it is in an open market setting so as you are eating people are walking by and talking. Tables are too small and chairs are wooden with no padding. Background music is loud also. Waitstaff was nice but seemed in a rush to get rid of us as they cleared our plates too quickly. We went to the bread bar and when we got back to our table our soup crocks were gone. We were not finished and told the waitress and she said she was sorry. We then asked her not to clear anything else until after we left. Not like there was a line waiting to eat as most of the tables were empty. We purposely ordered 4 different types of soup (2 each visit) and each one was way too salty and flavorless. They were all served boiling hot so we could not eat them right away or taste anything but heat. We had Lobster Bisque, Vegetarian Chili, Butternut Squash and Tuscan Onion. The Lobster Bisque was salty and had only a hint of seafood and no chunks of seafood. The Vegetarian Chili was salty as well and had an afterburn but no real flavor, the Butternut Squash was bland and too sweet and also very salty. The Tuscan Onion had lots of onions which were almost raw and very crunchy and way too salty also. They have a bread bar where you can help yourself and it consists of three types of bread -stuffed pepperoni and cheese (too heavy and doughy), and two others that were average but bland. The prices were a little high but not outrageous after all it is Doylestown and the rent is high in the new Marketplace location. After each visit our mouths became dry and parched and we drank tons of water for the rest of the evening which we attributed to the high sodium content in the soup base or added salt by the Chef. They do offer burgers and sandwiches and entrees for dinner. We had the blackened salmon which was dry and had a gasoline aftertaste. The risotto served as a side dish with the entrees that evening was too mushy and tasted bland which led me to believe that salt was not added to this dish but the soups were made with a lot of sodium loaded stock base. Overall, the atmosphere was ok, the waitstaff was ok and the food was just ok. Doubtful we will be going back again and if so, will not order any more soup.

First time customer. Ordered crab soup. Fabulous!!! Ordered the special- Shepard's pie. Wonderful presentation. Terrible meat in pie - greasy, grisly foul tasting filet mignon. Ruined the rest of the flavors. Ordered key lime pie. Obviously not fresh at all. Everything was dry and wretched. I had ordered a meat loaf platter to take home at the beginning of meal, but canceled it after tasting Shepard's pie. Did take crab soup home for dinner, with their delicious bread. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was appealing. I wish all the food was.

“Perfect lunch spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2009

I go to Soup and Seafood every week! Their soups are delicious and the perfect food for a chilly winter day, and it's a warm and bustling atmosphere, plus the service is fast and friendly. I haven't had a bad meal there yet and I've already covered a lot of the menu!! I recommend the tuna steak sandwich mmmmmm! Also their ranch fries are to die for.

“Major Letdown for a Soup Lover”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2009

Had heard about it for months and as a soup lover, thought it would be just the place for me and friends. Ordered their butternut squash soup and could not believe how favorless it was. We were seated by the back door which was drafty, had to place our order at the counter with no wait staff. Huge let down.
