The Mercer Museum is fascinating, but because it was so cold, I could not enjoy it. I had lined gloves on and my hands actually turned blue. My husband and I are going to return when it is more comfortable.
I would not take a young child there unless he or she was closely supervised. This place is 6 stories high, and there are sections of the stairway that are not protected - a child could easily slip through and fall several stories. Also, I am not sure if the heavy wagons, boats and other artifacts are safely secured on the walls and ceilings, especially since many of the cables are accessible to the guests. These items are hanging from the concrete ceiling and walls several stories up.
It's a really awesome place, but it needs to be cleaned out and made safer. Also, patrons should be warned before paying admission fee, how cold this place is.
