“It was a tale of 2 entrees...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Wife and I had dinner last night at The Black Horse Restaurant. As we entered, It took quite a while before we were greeted and seated. I can overlook this sort of thing, just thought it was worth mentioning. They have a decent tap selection, wife had a couple Martinis. We order the Mushroom Risotto for an appetizer, It was good, not sure the rice was arborio. It wasn't as creamy as a risotto should be. I really appreciate the fact that the have a separate vegetarian menu with excellent descriptions. My wife ordered the pasta. It was very bland, she did not eat it all. Disappointing. I ordered the red beet and butternut squash hash. It was very good. The slaw that was on top was amazing. I could have eaten a big plate of just that. Creme Brulee and Chocolate Souffle. Again, They didn't blow me away. Not sure if we will return, we don't get very many night out together.

Had a tender flat iron steak with french fries and sauté baby spinach with blue cheese. Mushroom bisque. Crab tater tots, satuė mushroom and steak on flat bread and tempura battered asparagus for appetizers. Cozy restaurant, with tables and booths. Tastefully furnished with hanging stained glass panels. Excellent service and a very pleasant server...Relaxing and enjoyable experience.......

Both our meals were excellent. Service from our waitress Fay, was quick, pleasant. House wine was good choice, nothing great but good overall.

“Overall "good"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

Food was a little salty. I got the steak with bleu cheese on top. Sides were even overly salted. Outside dining is cute but a little noisy along 272. Inside is very small but intimate. Can dine pub style too if you aren't in to the fine dining.

“Nice Looking Restaurant”

Great Portions. It was 20mins away from the B&B I stayed. The inn keepers recommended the place. Did not regret going.
