It is heartbreaking to write this review. We are local residents and used to love Sycamore Grille. Their food is amazing yet the staff, owner's wife, and the time it takes for your food to be served is something we will never go back there for. We have been to this restaurant many times - been there for dinner, big christening event and actually referred my Mother-in-Law to book her wedding there. There are many things that went wrong - but these are the highlights: It took fifteen minutes for someone to take our order, another 15 minutes to get our drink order (ONE MARTINI!!). After we got our apptizers and the tables were cleared it took 45 minutes for 2 salads and one pork dish to come out! When we entered the restaurant you were busy with ESU graduation, however within half an hour (and by then we didn't have the one martini yet) most of the tables cleared. Within an hour only three tables were left on our side! We had our toddler with us and had to go up and ask for our food and for my son's ice cream. The server did not come to us at all to see if we needed anything or to notify us of any delays. After our food arrived we asked for management. Even though the mushroom appetizer was cold, my vegetables were cold, and my husband's risotto was more like rice pudding with rice severly undercooked we said nothing about the quality of the food and only suggested that if you see a family with a child to see if they would like their order expedited - the long waiting period is simply unacceptable when at any point your toddler is going to have a meltdown! As it turns out the hostess is the owner's wife and she instead of a simple 'okay' decided to insult us "not sure where you eat but this is not mc donalds, this is a fine dining restaurant, are you from out-of-town, etc'. She also said that prior to 'yelling' at her server she wanted to talk to us (seriously, I don't want anyone yelling at the server nor you telling me this!) ... also, at this time the staff was cleaning the floor - moving all tables, dusting, sweeping etc while we are eating. If this is a fine eating establishment you do not clean while your guests are trying to eat! It would also help if in front of the guests the staff didn't argue about who has to sweep the floor! Ironically, as we are paying our bill our breadbasket came out (a bit late don't you think?) .. we were offered either dessert on the house (but after a 3 hour ordeal just to have salad) we did not have time to stay or a $10 giftcard for future order. We turned both down because simply all we wanted to do was make another family's dinner easier than ours was! I am shocked at the lack of professionalism and the way THE OWNERS WIFE spoke to us. Shame. Like said, we have been here plenty of times and were shocked at our experience. I did send an email to the owner and he did apologize for his wife's rudeness and offered for my husband and I to come back for a complimentary dinner for two. We didn't take him up on it mainly becuse we weren't looking for a freebie we were simply suggesting to adjust their 'time' to the customer. We come from a family of restaurant management and understand the restaurant business. However, rudness and lack of professionalism doesn't fall into that.
