I stayed at the Hyatt place cranberry for two nights in late January.
Location: The hotel is at the cranberry intersection joining I-76 and I-79. There are a number of places to choose for staying in this area and has also a large strip mall. I was visiting pittsburgh but stayed up north due to the excellent price for the accommodation. Drive to pittsburgh downtown is around 20 minutes on 279.
Outer facade and parking - The Hyatt has rooms in 3 floors in the building and looks quite decent from the outside. There is a decent parking area all around the hotel. The weather was quite cold during my stay and it snowed a bit. It was convenient to get into the hotel without too much of a struggle by finding entrance close to the parking. As the place is in a busy intersection, snow ploughs were clearing the roads continuously which was helpful too.
Check-in. The check in was quick and the staff were very courteous. I was staying on the 3rd floor.
Room - I was very happy with the room. It was quite spacious and had a nice living area at the front with a couch, working table, separate counter with micro wave, refrigerator and a sink. The TV was a nice flat screen that can be titled to view either in the bed room side or in the front area. There was a decent ward robe area. The beds were quite comfortable and the room was adequately heated. There was a separate area with vanity mirror and a wash basin. The WI-FI Internet was available complimentary with the stay and the speed was decent.
Bath - The bath was of a decent size too and was clean and the bathroom towels were nice.
Breakfast - The breakfast area uses includes the lobby area at the front and there was a mini bar area too at the front. The breakfast had nice fare with breads, croissants, buns, fruit drinks and cereal. The area is not very large , but seemed adequate with the number of guests using the facilities. There was continuous replenishments of the items at busy morning time. The breakfast was complimentary with the stay.
Other - There was a nice indoor swimming pool which I did not use. I did not look at the exercise area. The turndown service was prompt the two nights I stayed.
Price - Looking at the facilities and the way hotel was being maintained, I was extremely happy with the hotel. It costs half when compared to other facilities close to pittsburgh area hotels and is a steal. I think I paid around $75 per night (with taxes it came to around $88) and that was a very attractive price for the facilities.
Summary: Excellent hotel in the northern pittsburgh area.
