“A really good "airport" hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions. It is a very nice Marriott property with a caring and attentive staff. The rooms are typically Marriott, but well maintained and very clean. Special requests are not a problem. The hotel restaurant is good. The bar is frequently full and a nice gathering spot. The conference facilities are excellent and the fitness area/pool/weight room are quite good. The hotel is not "at the airport", as only one hotel is at the new Pittsburgh airport terminal, proper. This Marriott has shuttle service and is located in and near several business parks and commercial developments, with numerous shops and restaurants nearby. It is about 9 miles into downtown Pittsburgh.

You'll have to drive 10 minutes or take a cab ride to find a hotel near the Pittsburgh airport, unless you stay at the Hyatt which is connected to the terminal The Marriott is one of several choices 4-5 miles east on 376. My most recent trip was my second visit. The lobby/bar area is very opening and well done. The restaurant is pretty mainstream but the food was good. Expect typical Marriot-quality rooms with good service. The concierge lounge is available for platinum members and those on the concierge floors. It is reasonably designed and well stocked. There is also sandwiches & snacks available at a small shop behind the front desk. Access to Pittsburgh is easy as this property is right off the highway. Abundant shopping and restaurants are just 1 exit to the east. Standard pricing is pretty high but if your company has a corporate rate there is a substantial discount.

Rooms in the city were sold out due to a convention, so had to find something along 376 and decided to give this a chance. For me, there were two big issues with this hotel which will make it unlikely that I"ll return...

1) While there are many restaurants within a short drive, there's nothing besides the hotel restaurant within walking distance. Given the number of hotels in the city and nearby that have many restaurants around them, I'd pass on going back here.
2) The gym is very small. About 4-5 treadmills, a few other cardio machines, but all crammed into a small space. It does have a pool, but as another poster wrote, the hot tub is broken.

This all said, the employees are very friendly and helpful. The lobby / restaurant has plenty of couches and TVs, so there is a spot to relax. The rooms are on the older side, though the property is clean.

The Concierge Lounge is nice. I stopped in for breakfast and it had the basics...eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, toast, bagels, etc. The presentation of the food was very good, everything looked fresh, so that gets a plus. The morning I was there, it was PACKED so had to take my food back to the room.

The restaurant seems like it was just thrown into an open space. Service is good, the menu is so-so and the prices a bit high, which makes it more frustrating given you can't walk anywhere else for dinner.

Some colleagues stayed down the street at the Residence Inn, which sounded like a nightmare...so between the two, I guess this is a better property. Still, our standby when we can't get a room in the city will likely be somewhere else along 376 (there are many options).

They advertise a whirlpool and its broken and the pool area is freezing. They don't tell u upon check in and don't care that these things may mess up your stay. I will never stay here again. Not worth the money.

Stayed here two years in a row for a conference. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Room was clean and fairly quiet. Conference facilities were good, making it convenient to attend business meeting. Quick access to the highway and close to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator.

Upon checking into the room, had a slight "bump in the road". The Bellman was helping with the bags, and upon entering our room it was already occupied. Bellman immediately called front desk and immediately front desk manager met us at another room, a fantastic king suite parlor!! After a few minutes, we received a call from the MOD to apologize, and offer of complimentary snack or drink. Further, breakfast on them in morning. We have stayed there before, and without a doubt the entire staff is very customer orintated.
