“Beautiful in the rain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

My husband and I went on a summer night with a light, straight-down rain that allowed us to still sit on the side porch at a table for two and enjoy our meal with a view. The gardens, the ducks, the fog rising off the river... all of it was beautiful.

Service was friendly and knowledgeable, pointing us to some of the better items on the menu. I had the scallops and hubby had the pork chop - both were delicious and cooked perfectly. Hubby asked for the chop to be done Medium so as to avoid the typical overcooked chop most people give us, and the chef did it perfectly!

We would absolutely return to dine here.

“nice relaxed place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Ate here on two occasions whilst staying in the area. The food was nicely cooked and the helpings, generous. The atmosphere was relaxed and the setting very pretty - by the river and a veranda with tables and chairs should you wish to eat outside. My husband loved the lemon cake dessert and I can recommend the delicious crab cakes. Good value for money.

“Peaceful riverside location and good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

We ate here for lunch after riding a bit on the Great Allegheny Passage trail. Eating outside on the veranda with the river flowing nearby was one of the high points of our trip. The service and food were excellent, and the atmosphere couldn't be beat!

“The cream of avocado soup was to die for!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

I ordered a second bowl later in the meal! Nice decor - antiques and wood. It was a little stuffy inside. Eat out on the porch and enjoy the view!

“Really wanted to like this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

The River's Edge was recommended to us by several locals but the hype did not live up to the reality. The ambiance and location of the restaurant is great, set in a cute little B&B near the river but that's where the high points end. I don't know if they were just having an off day or what, but the service was mediocre at best and the majority of the food we ordered ranged from bland and tasteless to just flat out bad. Our waitress was obviously flustered and busy and to give her credit, it was a very busy evening that we ate at the restaurant, but it took her nearly 45 minutes to even ask us if we wanted anything to drink. Another 20 minutes after that we finally got water and wine. So, an hour into us sitting she finally came to take our food orders. Now, we weren't an any rush but an hour of waiting just to take an order is a little excessive and then to add insult to injury the food itself took nearly another hour before it was delivered. Now, this may have been forgiveable if the food was worth the wait...but it wasn't. There were four of us and we all ordered different items including a fish that tasted days old, a chicken with cream sauce (that came with very little cream sauce so essentially naked chicken), a steak that was over-cooked to the point of being burnt (even though we had ordered medium), and another fish dish that was incredibly bland and dry. None of us are picky eaters so we tried to trudge through our meals but we all four finally determined that the only high point to the dinner was the wine. We probably should have asked to have the fish and chicken sent back to the kitchen but at this point we had already waited two hours and honestly just wanted to get out of there. The price of the food is very high for the area and the quality was less than fresh and not worth the price tag. The ambiance and location of this place was the only high point and if we ever return to Confluence, PA we will not be dining here again.
