If you want to rest and have a calm stay in the nature, go there. The bungalows are beautiful, the food excellent and specially if you are interested in local food, the cook will do his best. We stayed three nights and four days, it was a wonderful stay and so relaxing.
But have a car to go around, because it's a bit far from Kuala Trenganu.

The Aryani was strongly recommended by a colleague of mine who went here recently for her honeymoon. i decided to take the same Honeymoon package because the offer was so reasonable, a two-nights, one day (not subject to season) package complete with breakfast, one dinner and a candle-lit dinner - and spa treatments for both my husband and I. It was completely worth it. We were given the best room (number 12) that was closest to the sea, so we could leave the door open and sleep with just the sea breeze accompanying us throughout.

i notice that some reviewers complain about how it is faded and run-down, but I feel that this hasn't dampened the experience at all - in fact it gives it a level of authenticity that's hard to explain. The staff are reserved here, but friendly enough. You must appreciate the fact that you're getting a great deal for what would cost you more if you wanted the same thing in Bali. I've stayed in some exquisite resorts in Bali, and in several parts of the Island but they've all not been easy on the wallet. Here, you get everything promised in the package.

The spa is really excellent and I trust couples will enjoy the 'Royal Bath' that comes with the package - milk, flower and lime water outdoor showers and then a soak in an outdoor jacuzzi only metres away from the sea - all for under RM2,000? Whoever complains after that is just being unreasonable. At the end of the day, we saw no domestic pests, enjoyed all our facilities, had an excellent house to ourselves closest to the sea and had well-cooked meals. They were even considerate enough to bring the candle-lit dinner to our balcony when the winds got too strong.

If you're going to be anal about hotels after all this you're determined not to enjoy yourself. i came for some year-end reflection and the location was simply ideal. Violent rains and waves gave me scenic, misty vistas - the only drawback is that there's not much to do outside the hotel, but a half-our drive into the state capital will sort this out. All in all, i thoroughly enjoyed myself here (despite it being Monsoon season) and will be back!

For those from Kuala Lumpur - best you take a flight here and then rent a car. It's quite a distance.

My wife and I were looking for a relaxing holiday at the beach. The website loooked great with individual villas which were very hyped up. It took ius 9 hours from Kuala Lumpur (website said 7) and on arrival was very disappointed. The hotel is nowhere near anywhere and 45 minutes from the nearest town Terengganu. It is not surprising that only 4 rooms were taken. Although the hotel sold alcohol at 'hotel prices' no other restaurant outlet (local cuisine did) even Terengganu where we ventured for a meal one night was dry! The facilities published are there but not many open! On the positoive side the food at the hotel was very good and restaurant staff also veryu polite. Be very careful in choosing this hotel PS The onlne price was increased by 60 Ringitt per night when the rransaction was complete!

A few years ago this hotel was probably well run and very lovely. However, through lack of funds and poor management it has been allowed to sadly deteriorate. We stayed here for two nights in September having been further down the coast at The Tanjong Jara Resort - the contrast could not have been greater. The first room we were shown had damp patches on the ceiling and after protesting we were moved to a better room, more like the deluxe standard we had booked and were expecting for the price we had paid ( £150 per night). The attitude of the only reception chap was very lackadaisical and considering there were only three other rooms occupied with guests he should have much more on the ball and accommodating. The food was quite good and reasonably priced and the restaurant staff welcoming. The beach is deserted, but there were only four sun beds and the beach bar looks like it had not been open for some time. The whole resort just seemed to have been left to fade and it is a great pity as the architectural design of the place was and could be again stunning.

We joined their dinner & spa package to stay in Aryani for 3-night. Package included set dinner for all the nights stayed and one traditional massage & bath.
The resort is situated near beach coast and 40mins from down-town. If you do not have a car, what to do is to stay in the resort. But that's enough, you need not go out if you are looking for relaxation.
The resort has only 20+ Malay-styled rooms. So, you can imagine not many guests at all. We stayed in a deluxe room, facing the swimming pool. Room is properly decorated, but the shower is weak. Water is sometimes very hot, sometimes very cold.
Swimming pool, again not many guests. We can always occupy it. There is a beach club, suppose selling drinks and sandwiches. But no staff on duty! You can call the restaurant to arrange foods to be delivered instead. Funny! Anyway, the beach club is a nice place if you want to take pictures.
Our package included dinner, we tried Malay food and western food. We chose to have our dinner in the fine-dining room, because of air-conditioning. There are four tables in fining-dining room. But during the 3 nights, only we had dinner there, no other guest. That's good, a private and well served dinner time! About the foods, that's really fantastic, especially the Malay food. This set dinner is a four-course dinner. All courses are set by the chef. Our only choice is Malay or western. But who cares? We believed the chef would choose the best to us. I really like the chef and the staff there. You can easily spend 2-hour to enjoy this dinner.
We tried their spa. Well, not recommended actually. I think massagists are outsourced. The technique of the massagists are not really great. Also, the flower bath is too opened to me. Although we can see beach & sea from the bath, what about someone passing the beach?
There is wifi connection throughout the resort and wired network in room. But connection is not very stable. Please expect some interruption when connecting to internet.
To conclude, this resort is still recommended if you are looking for quiet, relax vacation. But just escape from the spa!

We have been to East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia many times and Terengganu state is a must visit. Growing up from a small village, we were truly surprised on how authentic this resort reminds us of our childhood days. Apart from apparent small number in staffs and very limited choices of menu in the restaurant, everything else were awesome. Truly recommend to those who wanted to wind down and have a totally relaxing atmosphere with genuine Malay hospitality. Unlike the fake atmosphere at Tanjoing Jara Resort that we stayed before, this resort will really portray you what s simple life in village is all about.

Our stay at the Aryani was a pleasant experience. This resort is not your usual skyscraper type hotel in the city, but a quiet, Malay-styled cottages by the sea. The Aryani is situated away from the "madding" crowd in a secluded area along a stretch of isolated beach facing the South China Sea.

We decided against staying on Redang Island as we didn’t want to be restricted to swimming and snorkeling only, but preferred the mainland closer to the city and the Crystal Mosque. We chose the Aryani Resort which is about 5 minutes drive away from the Merang jetty where the boats to Redang Island are located.

When we first arrived at the entrance, there was a rather eerie silence about the place. The absence of noise got us a little worried and it crossed our minds if we made the right choice to come here.

The reception area doesn’t look like a normal lobby and I've never encountered anything like this before. It’s a very simple setup with an antique desk and 2 chairs and has a great view overlooking the swimming pool, its gardens and the sea beyond.

After our refreshing welcome drinks complimented with some nice local snacks of Keropok Lekor, we were shown to our units by a very friendly staff. We walked along a winding path under shady trees and in between cottages and it brought fond memories of our childhood kampong (village) days.

The semi-detached cottages looked neat with a veranda each. Entrance to the unit is through a double sliding door and we always had trouble locking and unlocking it. Our 2 superior rooms were spacious and the beds huge enough for 3. For such a spacious room the TV can be a tad too small if you lie in bed to watch. Surprisingly, there's no wardrobe in the room. But there's a space with cloth hangers inconveniently located in the bathroom. Though the bathroom is big with good supply of hot/cold water, the shower area is doorless. With such an open concept you can expect to wet part of the bathroom when showering. We didn’t use the hangers in the bathroom and our clothes remained in the luggage.

Another unique feature is the outdoor, open-air bathtub. It’s open at the top and fenced in a small garden. We didn’t bathe here but used it for some washing because it has cloth-hanging facility and the outdoor air is great for drying.

Staffs at the restaurant were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was OK. There was not much variety and the best meal was "Nasi Dagang". The rice is slightly glutinous and served with fish curry and it was delicious. Unfortunately, it’s not a daily menu. Dinner was good. We loved the delicious dessert of Pengat Pisang (banana). They served dinner in candle lights. For couples, the atmosphere can be romantic but for families like us, we found it a little too dark. They played the gamelan near the swimming pool and the soothing music adds to the atmosphere.

The swimming pool is open for 24 hours. We went swimming at night and had the whole swimming pool to ourselves. The water temperature was perfect and we didn’t shiver at all.

All of us had a good body scrub and massage at the Heritage Spa. The timber building looked old on the outside but it was absolutely beautiful inside. I had my massage at the outdoor pavilion facing the sea. The sea breeze and the background gamelan music were so relaxing that I fell asleep a few times even though the masseur was applying pressure.

There are not many cottages, only 28 units. They've built a new 2-storey terrace wing, housing another 12 units. They were still decorating the place and the staffs were absolutely wonderful to give us an unpremeditated tour of the new suites.

The Aryani lack family-oriented facilities like karaoke, but overall, it's a good place to stay and chill. The beach was long and nice but it’s not a substitute to the beaches at Redang. Every afternoon we were left two bottles of water, some local delicacies and a fresh packet of mosquito repellant in our rooms. We made the right choice to stay here and hope to come again soon.
