“Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We have extended family in the Clarks Summit area and were invited to a family wedding on Memorial Day Weekend. The Red Barn Village B & B is within minutes of the wedding location and our relatives' homes and I had seen it many times over the years, passing by on our way to visit with family. The location couldn't have been better, so I called to make a reservation. I spoke with the owner/host, Bert, who was very friendly and accommodating. We were able to book two rooms, one for my husband, daughter and me, and the other for my mom, sister, and nephew. We stayed in the Country Suite and just loved it! It's a very large, bright room with a kitchenette, sitting area, comfy bed and huge renovated bathroom complete with a whirlpool tub. The decor of the inn is very country with lots of interesting antique paraphernalia on the walls and all around, which is very fitting for the setting of the inn; gorgeous countryside with lots of green grass and rolling hills. It's in a lovely, quiet, peaceful area, so sleeping was a breeze. When we first arrived, Bert showed us the sitting area and the breakfast room, which has beautiful views of the outdoors. The place was very clean including the sparkling white bathroom. He made sure we knew how to contact him should we need to, and then asked us what time we wanted breakfast (between 8 and 10 a.m.) and made sure we were okay with the menu. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, blueberry muffins and French toast (with orange juice, coffee and tea) the first morning, and fresh grapefruit, strawberry muffins and blueberry pancakes the second morning. Both meals were delicious and very filling. We met Bert's wife, Nancy, at breakfast and she was just as kind as Bert. The inn and its hosts were very warm and welcoming and we felt like we were visiting family. It truly was like a home away from home and we will definitely stay again!

Four of us were traveling on a road trip and did not make advance reservations because we did not know how far we would go each day. When we got to Clarks Summit there were no vacancies anywhere. We saw a sign for Red Barn B&B so we went there, 5 miles from Route 6.
They were officially closed because the owner was going on vacation the following morning and he would not be there to make us breakfast. We explained that we would be satisfied without breakfast if he could provide us a bed and shower. Only one room was prepared, so they went to work quickly to clean and make up another room. They gave us a discount price since we would not have breakfast there. The owners were more than hospitable. They told us the history of the B&B, gave us a tour of the entire B&B, and answered questions about the region. They were not at all put out by the fact that it was 8:30PM. The review written by the other guest is completely accurate. It is beautifully decorated, clean, quiet, with all the necessary amenities, comfortable beds, good ventilation with A/C available. There are four very private rooms available with a common living room and breakfast nook is on an enclosed porch. We would highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: The B&B is shaped like a barn; the rooms in the silo are most expensive. It is 2 floors with the...

We stayed 5 nights and found the Red Barn Village B & B to be quiet and comfortable. It was like a home away from home.
The breakfasts were good. The owner always checked the day before if the menu was OK with us.
Mattress was very comfortable. There was good water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water.
All rooms have a kitchenette - microwave, sink and small refrigerator.
The scenery in the area is beautiful. As the B&B is in a rural area, a car is necessary to get about everywhere except a convenience store, which is on the same property as the B&B.
