Our group of 26 people (adults and kids ages 5-15) reserved 3 tables on the patio on Saturday August 5, 2006 at 8:30 pm. We were there earlier in the evening with a group of 6 and the service was super slow although the waitress was friendly.
Two of us ordered clams and after each of us tasted one we both said they tasted "funny" and reported it to the waitress who called over the manager. We eat alot of clams, have clam bakes, etc and we know how they should taste. It was as if they had been sitting out awhile or something and the texture and flavor were not what we are used to for clams. We were concerned about eating them if they were spoiled. The manager asked if we wanted another order and we said we did not. He later returned with the clams and said the owner and chef could find nothing wrong with the clams and would we like them packed up to go? He also mentioned they were previously frozen. We politely tried to explain that we didn't want the clams at all but this manager kept insisting that we take them. We asked to speak to the owner but he had already left. They then billed us for the clams and we refused to pay for them and he threatened to charge us with "theft of service". I have never been treated so rudely and inappropriately at a restaurant in my life. One member of our large group owns a restaurant in another state and was equally appalled at how we were treated. What ever happened to "the customer is always right" ? Especially when they had such a large party and the adults were all ordering alcohol and the kids all getting dessert. We refused to pay for the clams and left. I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all.
