Each year we celebrate New Year's Eve with our friends and go to some nice hotel or inn. This year we went to the Cashtown Inn. Fortunately we booked our rooms before the SciFi Channel's program about the Cashtown Inn aired or I think that it may have been impossible to get three rooms that night.
The inn is small with a total of 7 rooms, but Jack & Maria try to only book out 6 of the rooms. They also live in the inn, so when you check in you are entering their home and it does feel like a home rather than a hotel. Since we arrived on December 30, the house was still decorated for Christmas and the decorations went beyond the public spaces into each room. There were traditional and whimsical decorations and even Maria's beloved dragons and gargoyles. We stayed in the Imboden Room (#2) and it was a lovely room looking out onto the street and the mountain. It was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I slept better there than at home, which says a lot. We did not experience any paranormal activity in our room which was okay by me. I am not afraid, but I wasn't disappointed, either. I can honestly say that there wasn't anything that I didn't like about the Inn. From the owners to the staff, everyone was super. When we arrived on Tuesday afternoon, Jack made dinner reservations for us at the Fairfield Inn, another B & B about 10 miles away. We were treated like royalty because Jack sent us, but that's another review.
We had our New Year's Eve dinner in the Victorian Dining Room and the dinner was a 7 course tasting menu. We all agreed that it was the best meal that we have had in a very long time, and one of our friends travels for business and dines in many excellent restaurants in many different countries and he was truly impressed by the meal. Breakfast both days was equally as delicious - Jack is a terrific chef!
We truly enjoyed our two days at the Cashtown Inn and are already planning to return.
