“A Great Time for Kids!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Recently took my son and some of his friends to the Carlisle Sports Emporium to celebrate his birthday. All in all, this was a fun place to visit and the kids had a great time. I bought the Fantastic Play Pack ($28.00) for the boys and that was enough to provide over two hours of fun. There was some savings in buying the combo pack, so look into that if you want to do more than one thing. Plan ahead and make a reservation for laser tag. It made things much easier for us.
It was not at all crowded during the week day night we were there, which made it very nice. Hats off to the staff, they were very friendly, kind and accommodating. We did have a problem with the young man running the go-karts, he was completely clueless, and wasn’t interested in helping us. After I told the manager about it, he immediately corrected the situation and helped us out. Other than that, I was impressed with the staff and the help they gave us.
The boys really enjoyed the laser tag. The attendant was helpful and got them playing right away. They got to play for about 30 minutes. That seemed to be enough, and they were ready to do other things. The course/maze was plenty big for them and provided some fun challenges. Aside from the snafu with the go-kart attendant, they had a blast with the indoor karts. We had to use the indoor track, because the outdoor track was closed due to rain. They have two very nice mini golf courses, worn in some spots, but generally in good shape. The batting cages have been closed for months, so don’t count on those being open.
The arcade is nice. They use a reloadable game card to pay/play the games. Most games are .75 to 1.00. Many are chance games to win tickets for prizes. The kids always go for this and enjoyed trying to win prizes.
It can be pricey with all of the activities and especially the arcade. My advice, have fun but set a limit and stick to it.
Aside from Slush Puppies, we didn’t opt for any of the food. There seemed to be a lot of choices, mainly fried and snack bar type items. The pizza and things again were pricey, so we ate elsewhere.
We had a good time, and will return again. It was fun, but be prepared to spend a few dollars, just like at any attraction.

“Clean and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We have used the Sports Emporium several times while in town for the car shows. We have played a few games, but mostly drive the go-karts. The outside track has three double cars, which was perfect for our 3 children to ride with an adult, then the older two kids were able to do the indoor karts. My husband said the Grand Prix track outisde has some very rough spots in the concrete now which jarred him around in the kart. The young people that work there have always been respectful, friendly, and helpful. There are two mini golf courses which we have only ever done at night-but we have noticed a lot of lights that do not work, leaving dark areas. There are water fountains and 'rivers' going through the courses with blue (I think) water that is pretty gross looking in some areas. You really have to watch the little ones so they don't fall in the water. It is a bit pricey at $7 a person-with no discount given for children.
The batting cages were closed "due to renovation," even though there was no work being done at the time, they appeared to be broken. Overall, this is a fun, safe environment to take your family. The only real complaint I would have would be how hot it was inside. During the dangerous heatwaves last week, the air conditioning was not on. We felt bad for people who were working there because it felt like an oven.

“Decent entertainment for the kids.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

The kids really enjoyed the laser tag and the video machines. Most of the machines are the "try your luck" type which I personally hate. I would like more actual video games to play, but the kids seemed to like them. Without coupons or deals this place would be way overpriced for what you get. Fortunately, the deals are not hard to find.
