This hotel lived up to our expectations as it was nicely located within the heart of Amish country, the room was nice and clean the pool area was nice, too. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Lancaster county.

The Bird-in-Hand was o.k., but not great. I would reccomend this place, but I would not go over the moon about it. The grounds were nice and the rooms were acceptable. This place had such great potential to be spectacular but fell short on a few things that make a good vacation great. They had a very small outdated game room and a horrible fitness room. The equipment looked like it was from a garage sale and the three games in the game room were not exactley state of the art. In my opinion three or four games does not make a game room. These rooms were next to each other. I couldnt figure out why they didn't go the extra mile and combine the rooms and make either a state of the art game room or a decent size fitness room, but instead they had two small depressing rooms. I was there for five days and I didn't see one person in the exercise room. It really was shabby. Then off to the side of the game room they had a pool table. When I put my dollar in for the balls to come out four balls came out. They had a foosball table, there again when I put my fifty cents in no ball. Both the pool table and the foosball table were old and shabby. I couldn't figure out why a family resort wouldn't make these things a little nicer for its guest. It wouldn't cost any money at all to do those improvements.

The rooms were efficient and clean enough, but not as clean as other places I have been to. The water pressure in the shower was so low it took forever to take showers. The things I liked about this resort was the outdoor and indoor pools, the grounds were nice and well kept and the restaurant was simply the best. This place was not bad, but like I said above, it had potential to be great. I will go back, but not so soon.

My family has been staying at the Bird-in-Hand Family in for 13 years. We started staying there long before the new building and pool building were added on. With that said, I would only stay in the newer section. Upon making reservations ask for the pool building. We also visit nearby Dutch Wonderland, Go-Karts, Outlet Stores, Horse & Buggy Rides, Stratsburg Railroad, the Pretzel Factory, the Bakery, The Market and a day trip to Hershey. We also found an old fashioned Ice Cream Farm (Lapps). A beautiful ride through farms to get there. If you choose while visiting Kitchen Kettle Village (Intercourse) they have a Lapps Ice Cream Stand there. It is definitely a wonderful place to visit with children. The Bird-In-Hand restaurant has had the same waitresses for the past 13 years and all remember us. We also try to do a weekend in December. They light up the golf course beautifully. Also take the 40 minutes to see the Hershey Sweet Lights. The food in the restaurant is home-cooking at it's best. You can do the buffet or order off the menu. When booking ask about the two day package. We usually do two 2 day packages. You get breakfast for your entire stay and dinnner as well for your entire family. You also get discount coupons to the local stores, a 2 hour tour bus. and much more (free cookies and Shoe Fly Pie). The furniture stores also offer hand-made Amish goods. Cannot say enough about this place. They added new laundry rooms, the housekeeping staff is awesome, .. There is also a game room with pool table and arcade games. Two Indoor pools and spa. One outdoor pool and an 18 course mini-golf course. Have a great time! Make reservations early or you cannot get in the pool building. The older section is just that old and motel like, The new section is more like a hotel.

This hotel was a respite from an unusually bad camping experience. We stayed here for one evening-got a wonderful nights rest and enjoyed 2 of their 3 clean and warm swimming pools along with their hot tub. We stayed in the back of the newer building they have added that is one step up from the motel setting in the front. Our room was clean, quiet in the evenings and walking distance to dinner, mini-golf, the Farm Stand and a bakery. It was only a few minutes drive to shopping. It felt like the same quality as a Holiday Inn.
