My wife and I were driving from Buffalo NY area to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Falling Water house in Bear Run PA to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and we wanted to find a nice place to stay & relax with a hot tub / jacuzzi. So we looked around the Pittsburgh PA area, but discovered it would take an extra hour to get to Falling Water, and our tour package started at 8am. So we looked for a place closer to Falling Water, and had the hardest time trying to find hotels that accurately listed on their website if the room really had a hot tub / jacuzzi, or if it was just a tub with whirlpool jets. The industry has a lot of room for improvement (pun intended).
We found this place, but we were concerned from some of the previous reviews, so we tried to do some more online research about the area, and found a bunch of disturbing news reports about drug busts, welfare housing fires, etc. All in all, not painting a very nice image of the surrounding area. But we figured because it was a Hampton Inn property, that we would take our chances and hope for the best. We didn't really want anything to ruin this special weekend.
We were very happy with our stay: the room was excellent, the hot tub jacuzzi very nice, the bed and sheets very comfortable, and the staff at the front desk always very friendly and helpful. We didn't realize the room did not have a built in fridge, but they got one for us the next day. In the meantime we were able to use our travel cooler to keep the champagne chilled. We got extra towels when we asked for them. The TV was not a newer flat panel style, but it did have RCA input jacks on the side, so we were able to use a special cable to plug our iPad into the tv and stream movies from Netflix with the hotel's complementary wi-fi service. The complementary breakfast was good enough to get going in the morning.
Overall we were very happy with this hotel and would highly recommend it to others looking to use the jacuzzi suite. It only took about 1 hour to get to Falling Water from this hotel. We also recommend the Spear Street Grill and The Front Porch Restaurant, as great places to go to eat dinner in this area.
Be extra nice to the front desk staff wherever you go, and you should get a good room. Most staff ar...
