“Top tier of all B&B's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2010

I found the Bischwind while planning a vacation from my home in Southern California. From the reviews I've read the Bischwind has not been a destination for people from the west coast. Our favorite places to stay have been the Simpson House Inn, Santa Barbara, CA and The Wrigley Mansion on Catalina Island. We have found nothing in the way of a B&B to rival these two. But we were going to be traveling from New York to Washington, DC on our 32nd wedding anniversary and I was determined to find something as special.
What sealed the deal on choosing the Bischwind was the unique nature of every single guest on TripAdvisor loving the place. I spoke to Billie about this when we were there and she seemed unaware of it. You go on sites like this one, or Cruise Critic and there are ALWAYS people who would not go to the trouble of writing a review but for the chance to complain. Not so for the Bischwind. It appeared that the glowing report in the Bishwind's own web site were the truth.
That is exactly what we found. We stayed in the Teddy Roosevelt room, or I would be more correct to call it the Roosevelt wing as it is 4 or 5 rooms. If you want unique, and you are willing to pay a little more for an amazing room, then you want to take the Teddy Roosevelt room.
We met Billie and her mother who who were personable and supplied us with fascinating history of the house. Everything about our stay was wonderful. We came in on a rainy afternoon and went up to our room and made a warm fire. The library in the room was quaint and the bed was comfortable. There is too much about the house itself to try to go into detail here, but I'll just say it was fun to go exploring.
I now count the Bischwind as in the top 3 B&B's in North America.

My husband and I spent a week at the Bischwind Inn and fell in love with it! The rooms were comfortable, well-decorated, and had all the amenities. Billie, the owner, serves an amazing breakfast each morning and there is plenty to go around - no sparse continental buffet here! Billie is very personable and loves to serve her guests. And she has good knowledge of the surrounding areas. We would recommend this place to all our friends, family, and folks we don't know!

My husband and I go to B and B's two or three times each year and have probably visited 25 over the years. We loved this B and B. The innkeeper, Billi, made us feel at "home" from the minute that we walked in the door. There is a game parlor with all kinds of games, a video library and a wonderful restaurant a stone's throw away. The room was wonderful with a fireplace . Breakfast was a delight and this is one not to miss. It is only about an hour and a half from Philadelphia, so an easy get-a-way spot.

Bischwind was an elegant and beautiful stay. Gorgeous rooms, very friendly and courteous service, and tailored breakfasts. They also have a big DVD selection in-house and plentiful bathroom amenities, all with an inviting and relaxing atmosphere.

We went to the Bischwind with another couple, both of us were celebrating our anniversaries. What a gorgeous place!!! We stayed in the Bear's Den and our friends stayed in the Wolf's Den. Both rooms were beautiful with fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs. Also, our wing had a nice sitting room where we were able to hang out and play a game before retiring for the evening. The breakfast the next morning was super! Spend the extra money and upgrade to the filet mignon. The house was just incredible and the owners were so friendly and helpful. I so recommend staying there. It's close to Mohegan Sun. For dinner you must go to the Bear Creek Inn down the street.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bischwind. Billi was the perfect hostess and her mother was a delight. Biscwind is a beautiful old mansion that is in pristine condition and very clean. This was our first stay in a B & B and probably our last because we do not feel that any other place will come close to Bischwind's high standards.

The surrounding area is pretty remote but we were able to find plenty to do. Some of our time was spent lounging by their pool.

Be sure to say hello to their little doggie - Willoughby Von Barky. Even he was welcoming and very friendly.
