Yachats Commons Park is located in the heart of Yachats, Or. It is adjacent to The Commons (city hall/community center/events center), and local shops.
The playground contains a swing set, climbing equipment, two or three spring riders and a giant tree house. Wood chips cushion the ground. Several options for sitting are scattered around. The play area exteds onto a large paved area which includes a scateboard ramp and a basketball hoop. A small garden enhances the park with edible treats. My children are ages 4 to 18, and they all enjoy the playground.
Next to the playground is a large picnic pavilion with picnic tables. It offers protection from rain and wind. We like to have picnics there.
The expansive grassy area just past the pavilion is a great place to run dogs or fly kites. The backstop might even inspire a game of kickball. Our dog plays with other dogs there sometimes.
Just behind the pavilion you can find the trail that meanders through the wetlands area. We like to follow the trail through the trees then walk over to the beach.
Food, restrooms, shopping, the library, lodging and the beach are within walking distance from the park.
