“Amazing Views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

We stayed here midway through trip down the Oregon coast (started in Portland, then Cannon Beach). It was the PERFECT place to stay for a night. The views were unbelievable. We had fun walking around and climbing on the rocks before heading into town for dinner. The room was great; very clean and updated. The view is what you come to Yachats for…that and to eat at Luna Sea Fish House. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was one of the best "continental" breakfasts I've had. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here!.

Thank you for your enthusiastic review and recommendation. The magnificent views from the Overleaf Lodge are definitely a “must see” on any trip to the Oregon coast. Our rocky coastline gives us abundant opportunities to explore tide pools or to be awed by the raw beauty of the waves crashing ashore. Yachats also gives access to miles of trails encompassing old-growth forest, panoramic ocean views or an easy stroll along the water’s edge.

We love reading that you felt like a celebrity during your stay with us. It sounds like you stayed in one of our Restless Waters rooms which feature a Jacuzzi, fireplace and balcony. We appreciate your great review and we hope you will visit us if a return trip to Oregon is in your future plans.

This was our first time staying in Yachats and we really had a great time. We chose the Perpetua cottage at random and it was a winner. Very quiet, but could still hear the surf. Nice appointments, clean, and a bit of an ocean view. The Overleaf staff was very friendly, helpful with questions, and suggestions. This is a place to kick back and relax, at least in May. No rowdy beach parties, barking dogs, or trash laying around. The hotel itself has a great view and is perched above the rocky shore - a great place to watch the sun set, as we did. Note that the cottages do not include the hotel breakfast, which is understandable, since the cottages have full kitchens. It's a short walk into "town" which has several nice eateries and deli style lunch places. We will be back!

We are so pleased to read how much you enjoyed Perpetua cottage. Perpetua is a charming 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom cottage with views of the ocean. Our Overleaf Village is very clean, quiet and absolutely peaceful, making it a fantastic choice for a relaxing weekend or extended stay. As you noted, the hotel amenities are not included in the cottage rentals, but all of the cottages are equipped with everything you need, including full kitchens and laundry facilities. Thank you for sharing your experience and your photographs.

I stayed here with family in April at the start of a trip down the Oregon coast. We arrived on my mother's birthday, and had conspired with the hotel ahead of time to have a surprise bottle of bubbly and some flowers and chocolates waiting in the hotel. (King's Estate bubbly and Euphoria chocolate, so both fairly local from around Eugene.) The room had wide windows as well as a little window seat looking over the ocean--the view was sublime, and easily the best part! That said, the beds were comfortable and the room was spacious enough for four adults to not be tripping over each other all the time. The bathtub looked bigger than it was; it has a wide lip so the tub itself was a bit narrow and I banged my elbows a bit. There was a small fridge and a microwave in the room, so we could fix our own food, and a coffee maker.

Breakfast is served until 10 (none of this 'must be up at 7am on holiday to eat' business) with coffee and tea available in the lobby all day. Breakfast was good: oatmeal or scones and croissaints and the like, cereal, lots of fruit. The coffee is good, but (as is usually the case in US hotels) the water isn't nearly hot enough for proper tea. There is a pantry in the lobby as well where you can buy microwave dinners, ice creams, wine, and other little necessities like aspirin and earplugs and the like. It's all quite self-contained.

The best thing to do here is just to walk on the beach, but there's also a fabulous spa with a steam room, sauna, and this amazing soaking pool which looks right out onto the ocean. Everything is provided, from robes and slippers to cucumber slices (for either your water or your eyes). We spent a few hours there along with having blissful massages.

The beach is, of course, fabulous. There's a good trail for wandering or running, a lot of bits to climb on (but be careful), and even what looks like a little setup for bonfires or barbecues! The lobby is also large and well-appointed with chairs and sofas to chat or watch the sea, and there are games at hand to sit and play. All in all plenty to keep busy with and in beautiful surroundings.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony if you can get it, but the window seats are great too.

We are so happy that your stay at the Overleaf Lodge was the"perfect start to your vacation". We love taking part in special occasions, so it was a pleasure to have the Oregon sourced wine and chocolates ready for your mother's birthday celebration. Thank you for sharing your experience; from the "blissful" spa treatments, to the spacious room and our incredible views. We'd also like to thank you for posting your photographs. The photo you took of our campfire ring is where we have summertime s'mores and storytelling after a nature walk led by a wonderfully knowledgeable local naturalist.

We stayed at Overleaf one night during our drive down the Oregon Coast. It is a very nice lodge and our room was just fine with a very comfortable bed. We had an awesome view from our balcony and the staff was very helpful. We were a bit disappointed in the breakfast buffet that we had read so much about and did not feel that it was any better than the buffets at most mid-range hotels.

We stayed in the Alulquoy Cottage for a weekend with my brother and sister in law and their two small children. The house was immaculately clean and a great layout for us with 3 bedrooms, two of which had king beds.

I could not give this property a 5 star for a couple reasons. For starters, a lot of the resort was closed for construction including the pool & spa. That is fine, but I think discounts should have been factored in because we had fewer amenities. Secondly, although the cottage was super cute, it was sort of a nightmare for my bro & sis in law. There are nick knacky things EVERYWHERE, which was a treasure trove for 2 year olds with curious fingers. They had to work to keep the kids out of things while they were here. It just needs to be cleared out of "stuff" so that it is more vacation rental friendly.

Great staff at the lodge, good location with a nice path that leads to a sandy beach. Yachats is pretty, but I think there are much better locations on the Oregon coast.

A 'lul' qouy, meaning dolphin or to go in peace, certainly is a charming cottage. We are happy to read that you found the cottage immaculately clean and enjoyed the layout, along with it's proximity to the ocean and walking trail. We will certainly take heed of your note regarding the decor being tempting to two year old children. Our spa facilities, which include steam rooms, saunas and soaking tubs, were closed for renovation during your stay. Our front desk staff made every effort to inform every guest in advance of the dates the spa would be closed. Although the spa and lodge amenities are not included in a stay at one of the cottages, we are sorry if we missed informing you of the closure. Guests of the cottages, with the current exception of the spa renovation, are able to purchase day use passes to the spa facilities and they are always able to book any of our blissful spa treatments.

As so many other travelers have found this is just a great spot. The room was large, well equipped and cared for. The breakfast was outstanding. The first day we had the best berry scones I've ever tasted. As before, we loved walking along the coast and spent most of a rainy day before the fire after a short scenic drive to the nearby covered bridge. It is close to Yachats and worth the trip. I had a great spa experience with an exfoliation treatment from Killey and hope to repeat that!!

Room Tip: We had just a regular Inglenook room with balcony and it was fine.
