“Amazing location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

Great location, staff and overall care. Rooms were huge and well equipped. Great spot for a stop over. Amazing view and location to enjoy the stunning views. Make sure to walk along the coast. Well worth breaking up your drive down the cost.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

My family of 4 booked the Grand Pacific Suite (GPS) for 2 nights at the Overleaf Lodge from Sunday, April 13, 2014 to Tuesday, April 15, 2014. We booked directly with the website and paid $420.00 per night. The Grand Pacific Suite is the top of the line room in the hotel and there is only one of these rooms. Technically the room number is 220, on the second floor and there are 3 floors total. There are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 televisions, a fireplace, and a kitchen with full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, utensils, plates, etc. Both bathrooms are identical with great jetted tubs. The balcony and the view of the beach and ocean is the best in the house. We enjoyed an awesome sunset one evening when it was a sunny day. I made the most of it with my camera and tripod on the balcony. The Wi-Fi is included and was fine in the room. The mattresses were great and we slept great. The self parking is free, no valet parking available. There is a continental breakfast each morning that was good. We enjoyed the tidal pools within the rocks near the beach behind the hotel because there were plenty of sea anemones and starfish out there. Make sure to go out on the rocks near the beach during low tide to view the sea life in the tidal pools.

Now, for the somewhat unfortunate news. During both afternoons of our stay, there was a leak from the ceiling in one of the bedrooms where water was dripping from the ceiling and landing in the middle of the bed. Management and maintenance told us there are leaks in the grout of the tile in the spa/sauna directly above the room. Yes, you read that correctly. The GPS was on the second floor (not the top floor which would be the third) and is directly underneath the spa/sauna. Both afternoons they turned off the water upstairs and replaced the sheets and mattress as needed. The first leak happened about an hour after we checked in. The manager let us look at 2 houses which were affiliated with the hotel and we could decide to switch to one of those houses if we wanted. When you book the best room in the hotel and there’s a problem, there’s no where to go but down, as in downgrade instead of upgrade. In the end, we wanted to stay in the GPS since they were able to stabilize the water leak initially. In the hotel’s defense, they had already scheduled to shut down the spa a week or two after our stay to fix the cracks in the grout in the spa. The problem is the leaks were occurring sooner and more often before the scheduled maintenance. Hindsight is 20/20 and knowing what I know now, I think the hotel has a serious design flaw with placing it’s best suite directly underneath the spa/sauna. The GPS should have been on the top floor with the spa underneath, but the hotel is already built, so the question is, will the leak from the ceilings continue to be an ongoing issue in the future? We’d love to come back to this hotel, but we will hesitate whether or not the GPS won’t have any leak problems again. I will say also the management did step up and discount our entire bill by 75%. We paid half for the first night and the second night was free since the leak happened a second time. I’ll try and post some pictures with this review.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with a balcony view of the ocean

We are happy to know that so much of your stay was truly enjoyable; from the comfortable beds to the fabulous views. Unfortunately, the room above you did leak both days. Our construction crew began work a couple of days after you departed and are working hard every day on repairing the issue, along with some other beautification projects. We appreciate that you made note of our apologies, along with the free second night and the deep discount for the first night. As you also noted, we did offer to move you into one of the cottages, but we do understand why you would choose to stay in the Grand Pacific Suite in order to fully enjoy the gorgeous view. We enjoyed viewing the lovely photographs you took from the balcony.

This hotel might be four stars elsewhere, but in the context of Oregon Coast lodging it is definitely five stars. Our room was spacious, housekeeping was excellent, it had all the usual amenities and more, and it had a great ocean view. Breakfast was delicious--the kind you might expect to be provided by a very gracious homemaker. The only fault I found was too few TV channels in the lineup.

Room Tip: There is a popular foot path that goes past first floor rooms with terraces.

My husband and I were looking for a short relaxing getaway. The Overleaf Lodge exceeded our expectations. Our room had a 180 view of the ocean. We were able to take walks on the 804 trail, watch the waves crash on the rocks from anywhere in the room and enjoy the spa tub in our room. breakfast, a walk and then a massage at the spa and I was totally relaxed! We have traveled to resorts in Hawaii and recently spent several days at La Quinta and I would rate the Overleaf as equal to our Hawaii experience and better than La Quinta Spa and Resort in California.
I was impressed with how clean and well maintained The Overleaf Lodge is and the service was excellent! We will return!

Room Tip: I would be surprised if there is a bad room here. They all have ocean views.

This was a wonderful, relaxing, classy facility. We loved the room, the amenities, and the atmosphere. Good value for the price. The only negative was the horrendously crappy tv resolution. . . worse than the old tube-type!! Even with movies :(

In planning a week sojourn along the Oregon coast I came across several hotels in the Yachats area. After some research, including reviews I was impressed with the overwhelmingly positive responses and in many cases a strong sense of loyalty for this hotel from many experienced contributors. This kind of feedback is what I love about the Trip Advisor community.

Of coarse the rocky coast line, wild surf, blustery conditions and overall raw natural beauty right outside our room was is an amazing plus that this hotel takes full advantage of.

We selected a 2nd floor Inglenook King room (215) facing the ocean in a primarily southerly direction down the coastline. We loved the bathroom layout which was isolated from the bed area, especially the double sink vanity and extra counter space. The room had a private balcony with chairs and a small table as well as another picture window which left the room bright even on overcast days. We thought the gas fireplace was mostly for ascetics however it actually puts out a fair amount of heat if left on for awhile.

We found the breakfast area very open, well designed and spacious with several varied seating areas. Food and coffee was very fresh, well presented, and constantly being replenished by hardworking and pleasant staff. There was something for most dietary needs and tastes.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay and wish to acknowledge the professionalism, helpfulness and courtesy of all the staff members encountered.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean however the rooms with a mostly southern view (down the coastline) from the...

My boyfriend and I arrived a little early on a Saturday and the receptionist graciously allowed us to check in anyway so that we had enough time to settle in prior to our Spa appointments. We stayed in a 3rd floor Sunset Suite for $280 for the one night (Prices will vary depending on season and day so I highly recommend looking at their website). First and foremost, the staff at this hotel are some of the best I have encountered anywhere. Dee, the woman that checked us in, was absolutely fantastic! Very friendly, understanding of our situation, and accommodating. The room was very spacious and extremely clean. There were two full bathrooms, one in the bedroom and one in the hall to the kitchenette (which was pretty stocked cooking wise). There was a small gas fireplace with two large arm chairs in front of it, and a couch behind that. There was a tub for two directly in front of the window that overlooks the ocean. I absolutely loved the view from the room and falling asleep hearing the ocean pounding just below you...there is nothing quite like it! The only negative thing I would say about the room is the décor could probably use a little updating as it was looking a little worn down. Oh...and the last tenants very obviously boiled some crab for dinner because the smell definitely lingered throughout our day/night. If you want to cook your own food (I recommend doing so unless you want to spend an arm and a leg at the local restaurants) there is a grocery store not too far driving distance from the hotel. If you have the opportunity to do so, utilize the Spa onsite! I was given a gift certificate for $300, which was the reason I was staying at the hotel, and was able to purchase an hour long couples massage and an hour long facial afterwards for that amount. I have never been to a spa before and the overall experience was excellent. Again, the staff really makes a difference when it is top notch as far as I am concerned, and this place certainly has great employees. As we were only there for the Spa, we didn't see what there really was to do in the area but I am told there is excellent hiking, horse stables nearby for beach or trail rides, and numerous other things for the lovers of the outdoors. I highly recommend this place for couples, especially the Sunset Suite.

We are so pleased to read about your wonderful experience with our lodge, spa and employees. We hope that all of our guests feel as welcome and cared for as you and your boyfriend did. We are delighted you were able to have your first spa experience with us. The Overleaf Spa is a beautiful, serene atmosphere with caring, knowledgeable therapists ready to pamper our guests with facials, massages or extravagant body treatments. The Yachats area has a lot to offer, whether hiking old-growth forests, discovering tidal pools and beaches, perusing art galleries or simply relaxing in our peaceful lodge. We hope you will be able to enjoy some of these things on a return visit.
