“A very pleasant stay at the coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

I planned a three day two night stay at the coast for our 23rd anniversary and was very happy with the Overleaf Lodge. First off the location is excellent you can't get much closer without being in the ocean. The property is beautifully landscaped and while we didn't take advantage of it this trip is right on the 804 trail that runs up and down the coast. The Spa area looked very nice but we didn't take advantage of that either, we don't get away very often and decided to stay in the room when we weren't eating or enjoying the local scenery. The rooms are laid out well, the bed was very comfortable and surprisingly quiet, and the large soaking/jacuzzi tub was great. The breakfast seemed to be pretty good we only took part on the last day and the fresh blackberry scones were excellent. If I had to knock it for anything the rooms didn't seem to have air conditioning or if it did it didn't make much difference. That being said there is almost always a good solid breeze blowing at the coast and a few minutes with the doors open to the room and the balcony and the room cooled right down. We kept the balcony door open all night to hear the crashing waves... very nice. WE will be back and do this again. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: corner rooms have a view from two sides

I really enjoyed staying at the Overleaf. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a walking path elevated above the beach, overlooking the ocean, but it's also just a short, easy walk down to the beach. There are many benches & places to watch the ocean or sunset, and the view from the 99 degree heated pool can't be beat. Nearby Cape Perpetua and Devil's Churn are must-sees, and the scenery along this section of the coast is stunning.

My one complaint about this hotel is that the walls are paper-thin. We were in room 110, and not only could we hear every word of our neighbor's conversation on Sunday morning, but as people left the hotel (before 8 am), we heard every conversation and bang of luggage. There was NO way to sleep in or enjoy the solitude and quiet on Sunday morning. I HIGHLY recommend requesting a 3rd floor room, so as to be away from the noise of people leaving in the morning. Though you will still be able to hear neighbors talk.

Other than the noise on Sunday morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I absolutely would return, but only if I could get a room on the 3rd floor.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a top-floor room to avoid the noise of people leaving in the morning.

Great hotel right on the water. Really big rooms. Staff was very accommodating to our late arrival. Fresh flowers were in the room for my girl friend's birthday. Hotel guests get access to the day spa which includes a hot tub overlooking the ocean.

Very impressed. I just booked it on line and was not disappointed. Rooms were very spacious and lovely ocean view from the balcony. Kids loved it and wished we stayed there longer than one day. I will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

One night at the Overleaf Lodge was not enough! It is so delightful we would like to have stayed longer. Having an ocean view was really a treat. The room we had was very spacious and had amenities for a longer stay including a microwave. There is an option for a guided walk in the evening with a bonfire afterwards which we happened to come across walking back to the hotel. It was raining but people were still roasting s'mores! Having access to trails along the ocean was an added plus. The included breakfast was also delightful. I will definitely hope to return here for a longer visit.

We are happy to read about the short, but sweet, stay you had with us. Our guests have been enjoying our naturalist-guided nature walk and campfire this summer and we are glad that you joined in. As you mentioned, all of the rooms have microwaves, refrigerators & coffee makers to accommodate a lengthier stay. Our Cook’s Galley rooms and Sunset Suites have kitchenettes for those who want more cooking ability. We look forward to seeing you again.

This property has a lot going for it. Quite location, Ocean view, tastefully decorated, perfect size, and a very good free breakfast. The room seem bigger than the average room.
Limited selection of restaurants in the area.

I had read reviews of this place on tripadvisor, which was why I decided to try it. I was not disappointed. My wife and I had never been to Oregon before, and were doing sort of a whirlwind tour in 6 days. Our itinerary had us stop half way down the coast and stay here. The grounds and room were clean and well-kept. My wife, who doesn't travel well, had the best sleep of our trip at this place. The bed and pillows were excellent, and we kept the room's window open to hear the sound of the breaking waves all night. How soothing!
The breakfast in the morning had the best blueberry muffins ever, along with fresh fruit, a ham and egg casserole, etc. I left full, and even took a couple of the muffins with me.
If we ever make it back up this way, this will be on our list of return visits.

Room Tip: Almost every room has an ocean view

Thank you for reviewing your stay at the Overleaf Lodge & Spa. I am very pleased that your wife had the “best sleep of the trip” while staying with us. I agree with you; the sound of the waves is very soothing and can easily lull the most reluctant sleeper to sweet dreams.
