First time in Oregon...1st time at a bed and breakfast. Arrived late, tired and a bit frightened from our trip in the dark on unfamiliar, winding roads. God Bless the Park Ranger who showed us where the entrance was to the bed and breakfast. Everyone else had checked in, but there was a cheerful note taped on the back door welcoming us and telling us where our room was and how to secure the key. We quietly made our way up stairs to our room and were very happy to finally be settled in or 2 nights. Opened the window and listened to the waves plus smelled the intoxicating salt sea air and drifted off to sleep. Sadly, the bed was 'sway-back' and awfully uncomfortable..but we rolled up a quilt to fill the valley part, and managed to get a lovely night's sleep. Woke up so anxious to look out our window and see the beautiful Heceta Lighthouse we heard about from the brochures and email info. What a surprise and disappointment to see it was 'gift-wrapped' in a black tarp! They were doing much needed renovations on the lighthouse. Their extraordinary breakfast certainly made up for the loss of the lighthouse view. The people gathered around the table were all cheerful and so much fun to get to know. The food was amazing and the presentation just as much fun as eating! There little gift store was open, which was nice. The B&B itself was lovely, with a wonderful array of Victorian furniture, pictures on the walls, and albums to educate you about the history. The front porch was so soothing to sit and listen to the waves.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are honored that you choose us as your first B & B experience. Our entrance off the highway is unmarked and can be difficult to find if you don't have directions, even Google maps and GPS are unable to locate us. As a standard policy we send a confirmation email to all of our guests that contains explicit driving directions. Perhaps there was a problem somewhere and you did not receive your directions. Thankfully a helpful Park Ranger was able to assist you and you arrived safely. We take a great deal of pride in our accommodations and I am sorry to hear that you found the bed uncomfortable. We regularly hear from our guests about the great night's sleep they enjoyed. We replace our mattresses on a regular basis and the room you stayed in is slated for the next new mattress. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org attn: Steven Bursey if you would like to discuss this matter further. Our website and confirmation email both clearly state that the lighthouse is under restoration, However we are pleased to announce that the tarp and scaffolding covering the lighthouse has recently been removed to reveal a beautiful, freshly painted tower! The restoration work was badly needed and we are thrilled that the project is almost complete. Thank you for your kind words about our seven course gourmet breakfast, I will pass on your compliments to our staff.
