“Measured by service, this one's five star!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Mom and I dined here early on a Sunday evening as a special treat near the end of my visit to Oregon. I had read fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor, and had high hopes for a nice meal. We both started with the house green salad with fresh beets and blue cheese dressing. It was fresh and crisp. I ordered shrimp-stuffed salmon and mom ordered the short ribs. My meal was first rate, served with wild rice and grilled asparagus. Mom loved the sauce, loved the carrots and garlic mashies, but was having trouble getting a knife through the ribs. Our server was attentive and eager to remedy, as was the manager, Cheryl. Every now and then, a cut of meat (especially ribs) can be a bit too gristly, and this happened to be that off cut. Cheryl offered to upgrade mom to a steak at the same price, but left the rest of the meal so that she could continue to enjoy the sides while the next meat was cooked to her order. When it came out of the kitchen, Cheryl and our server joined us at the table for a few bites, to make sure that it was prepared perfectly. There was a cheerfulness and genuine concern for quality that made for a great experience. I believe the best measure of any business' customer service is how they handle a problem. By that standard, this was one of the best experiences I've ever had. We might remember the meal (including the yummy pumpkin cheesecake for dessert), but we'll definitely remember the fine calibre of service. Next trip to Oregon, this will be at the top of the list.

“Excellent Food and Fine Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This, and it's equally-good sister restaurant in Lake Oswego, are places that come to mind when you want well-prepared food and outstanding service. Prices are very fair, and food selections appealing. Moreover, the ambiance is welcoming. It is a place we return to often, because new dishes are frequently introduced, so it is never boring.

“Great Food, Nice Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

We had a delicious and enjoyable meal at the Oswego Grill. The staff was very attentive and friendly. When they learned it was my wife's birthday, they gave her a card signed by the staff and a free banana split which was big enough for the 4 of us to have a portion! Recommended!

“Such great flavors and awesome service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We try and visit here every other month and our family of four has never found a dish that was disappointing. My favorite is the beef tenderloin, my husband and 13-year-old love the prime rib, and my 15-year-old loves the cajun chicken alfredo. We have never had questionable service and always leave here looking forward to our next visit. I would gladly wait 30-45 minutes for a table, though we've never had to wait more than 15 minutes.

“Date Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We've eaten here before and this time it was before a show. Since it was mid-week and early, 5:30 pm, it was much less crowded and quieter than had previously experienced, thus more pleasant to us. This restaurant can get quite noisy. the staff here is excellent. the listen and are attentive without being intrusive and the manager on duty usually makes the rounds of the tables. The appetizers are easily a meal in and of themselves so split them. We sometimes get the very decadent blue cheese waffle fried potatoes which should have a sin tax added! This outing, my husband had the tenderloin tips which he judged against his favorite at the NInes and found them tasty but lacking true tenderness. I had the bacon-wrapped scallops which were very good. His starch side was garlic mashed potatoes and mine was a clam linguine, both were excellent. Oswego Grill has a standard vegetable side dish of grilled asparagus. This works for them but not necessarily for the dish or the diner. In this case the asparagus were so small, probably because they were out of season, that the cooking was uneven leaving some overcooked and some undercooked. Like a lot of Portland area restaurants leaning toward the upscale dining market, Oswego Grill offers great staff and atmospherics but misses just slightly on the palate. A good, solid sit down restaurant meal but not a stunner. Happy Hour is very popular here, though.
