Great couples getaway. Comfy bed, nice view, wifi, movies. Room 5 with view. Rob was cordial host. Common areas, basic breakfast. Check out antique shops or crabbing on the bay. You won't regret your stay
Highly recommend. Beware ghost history!

When I click 5 out of 5 on this review I don't take it lightly. This hotel felt like my life was a movie when I stayed here because of the top notch quality of the hotel experience from start to finish. Charming, ornately beautiful and quaintly accommodated the Old Wheeler Hotel was the perfect overall stay. Mid November meant a quiet town but having the place to ourselves was a delightful surprise. Friendly conversation with the front desk attendant, the great view and of course the jacuzzi bath tub in the room was exactly what we needed. Thanks O.W.H.!

Booked today for a stay today. Arrived early and the room was not yet ready which I expected. The man pointed to our room then down the hall to the bathroom in the hall. We were expecting a private bathroom. He offered us a private room/bath only if we would pay the upgrade fee which was more than $50. We already paid $120 for the b&b room so the upgrade fee seemed unreasonable.

If you are considering staying here do not book with Expedia/direct until you see the room first to make sure it is what you expect it to be. While others may be happy here, we were not. We left without staying and received no refund as it was nonrefundable.

From the moment that my husband and I attempted to make a reservation (they were all booked up when we called) to the time that the owner remember to, and did, call us to say she had a one-night opening on a weekend, we felt we had won the lottery! The Old Wheeler is traditional, well-preserved, welcoming, spic and span clean, and "dressed" appropriately in antiques. The host the day we arrived was, and is, just wonderful. He explained the routine to us and we were off on our trip's purpose, a birthday party. The next morning, breakfast was simple, adequate, well-presented and delicious. We never ask for more, but seldom do we receive so much. Thank you, Old Wheeler Hotel.

Room tip: No. 2 is breath-taking!

We have made several return trips to the Old Wheeler Hotel since discovering it several years ago. The hotel is filled with nostalgia. Each room is exquisitly decorated in its own distinct style. You can tour the hotel and see all available rooms, making the hotel a delight to explore. We admire the antiques that fill the hotel, some of which are quite nostalgic and others curiosities. The hotel has a cozy sitting room with piano and fireplace which has hosted small weddings. A wonderful breakfast bar is provided. Beautiful china and glassware make it a pleasure to dine while enjoying the view. The day room/breakfast room has large windows for viewing wildlife at nearby Nehalem Bay State Park. Binoculars are provided. A sizeable herd of elk frequent the area. Across the street, situated in a small park is the Wheeler train depot. The excursion train runs several miles along Nehalem Bay south to Garibldi, with plenty to see. Behind the depot is the boat dock and boat rentals. Look out across the bay and enjoy the view! Plenty to see from the second floor windows and very quiet. And old fashioned elevator will take you upstairs to the hotel or take the stairs. Arriving on second floor is a step back in time. We like to visit for a good rest and some pampering. Always a pleasure!

Room tip: We have enjoyed the room next to library several times. It has a king size bed.
