“Great Value, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2010

We stayed at Mitch and Marjorie's "Patsy's Seaside Villas" for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year's. We chose Patsy's mostly because of the great price- it was one of the only places in Anguilla where we could afford to stay for 2 weeks. We were not disappointed- Patsy's met all our expectations and we hope to come back soon.

Mitch and Marjorie were very helpful. They gave us some food in the refrigerator to get us started, and they helped us to rent bikes and a car. They even did our laundry for us. Despite it being Christmas (all 6 suites were occupied), the villa was quite quiet. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The patio was large and had a great ocean front view. The beach was about 30 feet from our door, and we had a great view of St. Marten across the way. The beach is not one of the better ones on Anguilla, but it was nice for a morning and before dinner dip. Mitch constantly raked the seaweed to keep the beach nice and tidy.

The location is very convenient for exploring the island, particularly the west end. We rented bikes and cycled around most of the island. Many great beaches are within a 10km radius of Patsy's, including- Rendezvous Bay, Cove Bay, Mead Bay, Long Bay, Barnes Bay, and Shoal Bay West. Patsy's is a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) from the Blowing Point Ferry. Blowing Point is a small town, but it has a good mini grocery store (Ashley's and Sons) and a number of cheap good local restaurants (Big Jim's makes a great $2.50 shark sandwich). The excellent Ferryboat Inn is right next door- the staff there was incredibly friendly and they made the best rum punch on the island.

We only had a couple of problems on our stay, and they were very minor. We had to constantly fight with our screen door- it was always stuck or falling off. Also, the water is heated by solar power, and we had a couple of days with no hot water. This probably was only a problem because it was Christmas and there were lots of guests. There is also occasionally a slight diesel smell, because of the nearby ferries. This didn't bother me, and after a while I didn't notice it any more. During the day you can hear the ferries, but at night it is very quiet.

I would highly recommend Patsy's to anyone looking for an affordable Anguilla vacation. Most of the guests we met there have been returning there year after year, and it's easy to understand why!

Let me start this review by telling you that two years ago we booked an upstairs suite at Patsy's, got Marjorie to arrange a rental car and even stock our fridge for us, only to discover about 20 hours before our flight to St. Martin that my passport was about to expire. In the midst of the ensuing family hysteria, my husband called Marjorie, explained the situation, and expressed our extreme sorrow that we were leaving her in the lurch. Marjorie was not only incredibly understanding (she said her own son had a similar experience trying to visit St. Thomas) but she charged us nothing. I have been to Anguilla five times, and have frequently been impressed by the generosity of Anguillans, but this gesture struck me as unparalleled. Did I mention it was high season and we had booked one of their six villas for a week?

Needless to say we didn't even consider anywhere else for our Anguilla trip this year. Passports all in order we made it to Patsy's, and as others have mentioned the website hardly does the place justice. The villas (really apartments) are huge, nicely decorated, incredibly clean, sit on the sand with beautiful views of St. Martin from almost every room, and front a lovely small beach, perfect for children. I spent many hours on my balcony drinking coffee and relaxing while my two kids played in the sand, and my husband read in a shaded hammock. We never needed the air conditioning, kept the windows open and slept very well. I only saw two or three mosquitoes the whole time. There is decent snorkeling right out front, goats and chickens out back, and although the complex is very peaceful, the whole operation is only about a five minute walk from the village of Blowing Point, which is a pretty entertaining scene, full of restaurants and bars, and of course the ferry to St. Martin. This is one of the few places in Anguilla where one could get away without a car, since there is a supermarket walking distance, but rental cars are cheap (Marjorie's son will rent you one for $30/day), and there are many fabulous beaches and glorious restaurants out there to explore. The entire Connor family is amazingly helpful and gracious, and the villa was only $180/night- incredibly cheap by Anguillan standards. It is a mystery to me why this place isn't booked at all times. My answer is that people don't know about it. If you want an affordable place to say in Anguilla directly on a beach, particularly if you are traveling with children and want two bedrooms, this is really about the best place you could find.

The wireless internet is only available in one of the buildings, by the way, but the TV worked well, and each room comes with a cell phone for your use while there.

At this point I have to say that no one in my family would stay anywhere other than Patsy's. We look forward to returning next year!

We arrived in Anguilla via American Airlines on Feb. 23, - March 3, 2009. We rented the top floor, 2 bedroom unit. We were met at the airport by Andy Connor with our rental van at 10:00 p.m. He was very friendly and we followed him back to Patsy's. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door! Much nicer than expected. Bright and airy and very clean. Large living room/kitchen/ dining all in one big room. The Kingsized bedroom was nice with the view of the ocean and fresh air blowing in. The 2nd bedroom had twin beds and was smaller. The air conditioning worked great in the bedrooms, even though we didn't use it in the King bedroom. Every morning out on the balcony, we had this beautiful, blue water, gorgeous sky and view of St. Martin in the distance, and of course the beach and Ferry Boats are right there too. We expected it to be noisy, but we hardly noticed them there. We slept with the windows open, and were rocked to sleep with the ocean waves on the beach.

We had daily maid service, with plenty of towels and beach towels. The kitchen had everything we needed. We cooked a nice dinner every day. We even had the use of a barbecue grill. There were plenty of utensils, coffee maker, blender, toaster, microwave, full sized fridge and apartment sized stove, with oven. We felt like we were in our own little home. We had plenty of hot water to shower with and there were 4 adults in our unit. This was a great, affordable private villa. Also, they had wireless internet, if you wanted to use it and a TV.

Marjorie & Mitchell Connor are the owners and were very pleasant to work out the reservations with us. Our vacation was more than we expected. We would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for affordable accommodations this is it. You can do Anguilla on a reasonable budget.

A short walking distance, you can get on the Ferry and go to St. Martin for the day. There are about 3 restaurants and bars north of the Ferry. The local grocery store is within walking distance too, if you like to walk. Has about everything you will need to make a nice meal. Go to the "Time Out Bar" and say hi to Oliver. He will play some great music and makes great rum punch. Also, walk down to the Ferryboat Inn for lunch or dinner and drinks. Or, you can drive to the other beaches. Maybe you will like where you are and walk down the beach to the sandy point with your chair and a small cooler of drinks and just hang out, watching the waves and feeling the ocean breezes and feel the sunshine on your skin.

three young ladies from nevis had the most enjoyable vacation ever. we arrive at the apartment around 6pm not knowing what to expect. we were met by majorie avery sweet lady, we took to liking her right away. we were taken upstaris to our two bed room apartment as at awe. we had a magnificent view of the ocean just a few feet away from us and decided to take advantage of the ocean as much as possible. the rooms were large an the apartment was very clean. we had a king size bed and two single beds which worked out very well. marjorie had put some bread milk butter and juice in our fridge which we were greatful for . on our way we had stop at the super nmarket and buy a roasted chicken and some other stuff after may sister in law said we had a kitchen. we spent 4 nights and wish we had stay longer. we took turn cooking which was great for us as we are not keen on fast food.we are already planning our trip for next year but plan on staying a whole week. we would highly recommend this spot to any one for vacation but hope they don't steal our little secret home. we went to the beach every morning and evening which was a plus for us as back here in nevis we live about 15 miles from the nearest beach.the only thing we would like to see happen for our room is the shower head fix other than that everything was excellent. cadiler, lulu & nadine . the nevis gals

My husband, son and I stayed in a 2 bedroom, ground floor apartment for 2 weeks in June 2006. We arrived late and Marjorie, the owner was waiting for us with some supplies, as she knew we had been delayed - bread, butter, milk, water, jam etc. A fabulously warm and kind lady. She also arranged for us to have a hire car, which was delivered to our apartment without any question.
Our patio doors opened right onto the beach, much to our sons delight!
Marjorie gave us a mobile phone with credit to use during our stay and if we ever had any questions, she was always available.
Excellent location for grabbing something to eat from Big Jim's grill at Blowing Point (walking distance).
Would highly recommend.
