“Good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

While we wouldn't say the Duraflame log fireplace was worth the price of the room which was otherwise only a little more elegant than a deluxe Best Western, the staff were willing and able to make our stay a pleasant one, and the extra service was nearly worth the expense. They provided information about local recreation, a tidy and quiet room, quick fix of clothes dryer, and attentive restaurant service. Our interactions with the front desk, Altitude restaurant staff, maids, and maintenance person were entirely satisfactory, and we felt like honored guests.

Additionally we were able to save $13 and $19/lift ticket for Timberline by purchasing at the hotel.

Stayed in a fireside room. Good size. Great bed. Walking distance to restaurant/lobby. It's a dura flame fireplace and they only provide 1 log. Additional logs are $4. The restaurant food tasted good. The service and decor for the price you pay is only ok. When they say the spa is walking distance, they mean across the busy road. The spa has basic amenities-nothing extravagant. The staff was extremely friendly.

I have known about this property for years but always wondered if it was dark & dreary, old and outdated - we decided to try when there was a great Living Social deal - WOW! I was very pleasantly surprised - the rooms are updated and very spacious, the bathroom is well laid out with a nice size shower, the breakfast at the restaurant was excellent as well. The SPA is great - if you can definitely book a massage. We will definitely be back!

We had a few days free over the holidays and decided to get away to The Resort after we saw a special rate in an online ad. The Resort is a lovely retreat nestled in the side of Mt Hood. The lobby is huge with a big stone fireplace that warms the entire area. The staff are friendly and make you feel at ease. Our special came with breakfast for two each morning. This was the highlight of the trip. They had the usual breakfast selections to order in the restraunt. One morning we ordered an egg dish, the other pancakes. The eggs, hashbrowns, and meat was excellent. The pancakes were disappointingly dry, heavy, and tasteless. They have happy hour each afternoon with a variety of small dishes for a very reasonable price.

It was a bit frustrating trying to get the tv to work as the direct tv box was balanced precariously on top of the wall mounted flat screen tv. I'd think they would have provided a small shelf for the box which would have prevented to thing from continually falling off and pulling the plugs loose - leading to the tv not working until it was reset.

We reserved one of the dog-friendly rooms which was nice to have, no smell or sign of previous dogs, but it would be nice if they included a little doggie basket with treats, a towel, or something similar for the dog like we've experienced other places. It's a very nice touch.

Overall, the stay was very nice and relaxing and we'll definitely return.

Room Tip: We liked the upstairs room since we had our dog. There was less foot traffic outside so she stayed c...

We ended up getting a Living Social deal for this property and planned to spend Thanksgiving there. It was just great! The rooms were really nice and comfortable, all the staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. When we arrive after lunch time on Thanksgiving day starving and with not that many options of open restaurants they asked their chef to prepare something special for us outside of the Thanksgiving menu.

The spa is also divine! One of the best massaged I've ever had in my life.

The property is close to Mt Hood and other ski resorts so we went skiing one day. The hotel has a shuttle to the ski resort and back.

I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We purchase a weekend special stay arriving the night of Jan 4 and leaving in the morning of Jan. 6 so we could spend a day tubing with the kids on Mt Hood.

- Everything was very clean and the room was a good size.
- The beds where great same as we've had in $400/night resorts.
- Bathroom updated and a good size but the 5' tub was small.
- Starbucks coffee was nice. You'll need milk for you morning coffee though.
- The view into the trees was nice no other until looked into ours.
- There is a grocery store one the corner of the road going in.
- The pool and hot tub are heated all year. If we'd know that we'd have brought swim suits for
the kids. Be nice if they could camouflage the dome over the pool so it does not stand out.
- Parking just outside the room was very convenient.
- 15 min drive from the skiing and tubing.
- We had breakfast (fast service) and dinner at Altitude. Both times it was great. Kids loved the hot chocolate.
- In the room there was both an in room heater and A/C heat. Both made noise but either one heated the room up fast. At night turn off the heat so there is no fan noise. The room doesn't get cold.

- Next time we would ask for a ground floor. Keeping 2 small children from running and jumping on the floor was a chore.
