“Delicious Fish and Chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Four of us tried this out for fish and chips. Good weather permitted us to eat outside at one of the small picnic tables out front. Small eating area inside. Good meal and a cut above similar fare we've had elsewhere. We agreed that the place deserved four stars because it was quite good for what it purported to be. My thumb agrees.

“We just keep going back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

What can I say the Salty Dawg is probably the best place to eat in Waldport. The peel and eat shrimp are delicious, and the broasted chicken always hits the spot. This is a great place to come and have a beer while your crabbing and have some good home cooking.

“Step in out of the cold”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Threw some crab traps off the dock and stepped in out of the cold to warm up with coffee and breakfast. Bacon was nice and thick...service was fantastic. Caught 3 crabs!

“Average plus”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We're locals and have been coming here for years. We don't eat here as often as we used to since they took out the door between the "garden room" (family area) and the bar area, and that is mainly because the bar patrons can be really loud if there is some sort of sports game on the TVs. The bar section is an old time dive bar, not a trendy modern "brewpub", by the way.

The past couple of years, the service has been consistently quite good - friendly and efficient. Prices are pretty reasonable. Location is good with a bay view.

On our most recent visit, I had one of my old favourites, the seafood salad. Although this time there were no mushrooms, I think it had a full cup of tiny bay shrimp and the prawns were gigantic! It's always good and plenty filling for $13.

My husband tried the Crab Louie which was very disappointing as it had very little crab. His 'Italian Medley' soup was good, though.

Overall we find the food to be pretty good but not what we consider outstanding. Fish-n-chips, grilled chicken burger (esp with mushrooms and cheese) , broasted chicken, soups are all good. Hamburgers are about average and steaks tend to be on the mediocre side. Every salad we've had has been very good, with the exception of the Crab Louie.

Any day of the week you'll find locals here :-)

“Soup from scratch ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

The soup and the service is very very good and is a local legend. The burgers are average however. I can't say for certain but I'm 90% sure they are the same frozen patties we can buy at the grocery store. The Rubens are very good and the fries tasty as well. They have a good kids menu. We ordered 1 appetizer 4 lunches with sodas and 1 child's lunch for 57$. Parties of 6 of more have a 15% gratuity added to check instead of the standard 8
