“Marvelous Scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

This is truly a Scenic Bypass!! When you start in Troutdale (Stop at Troutdale Chamber of Commerce for wonderful maps and information of the area. You can Google the address and it is not out of the way) you see several beautiful waterfalls along the way. We did not do any hiking but several can be viewed from the road or by pulling into a parking area. Unfortunately Vista House was closed when we went due to road construction but we were able to see it from Chanticlear Point. On the section of the highway which is past Hood River there are magnificent views of the River and Gorge from Rowena Crest and miles of fruit trees along the flatter part of the highway. In May there were wildflowers everywhere. I would love to return in the fall. The drive it probably less than an hour from Troutdale to Hood River and even less from Hood River to The Dallas but you need to allow plenty of time to stop and view the scenery and take pictures

“Hard to imagine a more scenic drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Drive here fairly often. Once you are in the scenica area all is pristene. No signs, commercial establishments. Rugged beauty thanks to the violent Missoula floods of thousands of years ago. Mountains and Columbia River are spectacular.

This highway has views, history, hiking and some of the best waterfalls on earth all just outside a big city.

Why are you not there yet?

“Wonderfully scenic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The river was amazing, but I was a bit early as some roads were still closed. Hoping to return when everything is opened up again.

“Loved our romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We traveled this highway during a few days off from work. We really should have taken this scenic route earlier...Oh why did we wait so long?

The waterfalls along the way will leave you breathless. Some of them you can see from the road, some are a short walk away and some have entail some serious hiking.

Whatever your ability or time will allow, you can be that there will be something for everyone. Take the time to revel in God's beauty. You will feel like you've stepping into a masterpiece!
