This lodge, set just above the treeline with a view of the Mt Hood summit, was built during the Great Depression, and retains all its original character. It is an awesome building! The rooms are pleasant and close to original in style and furnishings. The main restaurant is simply outstanding, with dinner food and wines to rival the best restaurants in the big cities. Even the breakfasts, served buffet style, are extremely good. Sometimes the clouds come down to the lodge and stay for a while, but there are plenty of rustic fireplaces and comfy seating around, as well as the possibility of touring the interior of this historic building. It is a national treasure.
