“Great Find...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

After visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory we also wanted to visit Blue Heron. It is more of a shop/luncheonette. They also have a petting farm outside for kids to feed the animals (with food you purchase in the store). The food was amazing. Just had a sandwich and chowder and it was the best chowder I have had in the PNW. My husband had a sandwich too and loved it. Great kids menu too.

“Nice for a tourist trap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

It was highly recommended by some locals. Had good reviews on TripAdvisor. We were disappointed. Very kitschy, sell you stuff made all over the world, weird restaurant set up, and OK sandwiches. Some sad looking animals in a little zoo-like cage. Staff was nice.

Would not return.

“Unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

What a special place this is. They make wonderful cheese and are happy to give you a tasting of whatever they offer. They also carry Tillamook (which is located right down the road). We left with wonderful smoked brie. They carry all types of gourmet food products and kitchen items. They have a nice selection of wines as well as tastings. There is a deli and an array of salads which looked just yummy. There are plenty of intriguing nooks and cranny’s where you can sit and enjoy the food. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is an outside area for kids. This is really special place to stop and enjoy good product versus the crowded goliath, Tillamook, down the road.

“Good and Varied Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

The Blue Heron isn't a restaurant in the strictest sense. They serve food and have tables scattered among the various soup mixes, jellies, James and sauces they also sell. The atmosphere isn't like a mini mart despite all the selling going on here. It feels very nice. There is cheese tasting, their good Brie, and wine tasting which was a very reasonable $5 for 5 wines. My wife and I did the wine tasting while our son snacked on the ice cream. There are also some excellent truffles for sale by the front entrance that are worth getting. You can also feed some very hungry goats you can feed. Overall it is a good stop for shopping and light eating.

“Yummy cheese, classy atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Just down the road from the Tillamook Factory is Blue Heron Cheese. There's no cheese making to see, but it has a petting zoo and places to have your pictures taken and a wealth of cheese, dips, and wine to taste. A duet was playing very nice music while we were there, and it looked like a nice place to eat lunch. Ask for tastes of cheese at the counter. It's a fun place to stop.
