“Fun lunch place. Great for kids. Will definitely go back when we are in the area.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Found this place after reading other positive TA reviews. Very glad we stopped!

The kids LOVED the petting zoo. Tip: inside near the cash register you can purchase a $1 package of food to feed the animals. Huge bonus to have entertainment built into the dining experience. Keeps the whole family happy.

Didn't shop in the extensive gift shop/wine shop, but looks likes a lot of fun.

Food was very tasty. Sandwiches were generous and freshly made. Be sure to try the fruit and cheese platter - huge portion and yummy. The kids' meals include half a sandwich and a side of ritz crackers (not animal crackers, as stated on the menu).

“The other cheese place in Tillamook”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We'd planned to stop at the Tillamook cheese factory but it was crowded with tourists. We saw signs for the blue heron and stopped there instead. They have some interesting farm animals in the back e.g. goats, and assorted birds including a peacock. Inside you can taste their various bries and camemberts. One brie is a little heavy on the black pepper but otherwise delicious. There are other items for tasting, jams, mustards, assorted gourmet items. It's definitely overpriced particularly the wines. Lunch is good and they bake excellent baguettes to go with the cheese. The soup was good but my boyfriend's sandwich a little on the light side. It's fun to browse but definitely touristy.

“Fun shopping and good food too!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

While sightseeing along the Oregon coast, we stopped in Tillamook. We wanted some of their Tillamook cheese, so we stopped at the Blue Heron. Great place for taking small children. They have a petting zoo. There is a good assortment of food items, condiments, wine, and also a deli lunch counter. Good selection of cold beer too. I had a Reuben, my wife had a salad trio, and we have wine. Tasty food and reasonably priced. I don't know if the prices on their retail items are inflated or fair. They do have a great selection and variety, and they have lots of samples. Heck, you could just about eat a meal off of all the samples. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Not pushy, but available when you needed them.

“Tourist Trap”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012 via mobile

Sold brands of goods I can find almost anywhere...plus a lot of touristy items that didn't seem to belong in a cheese factory. I was hoping for a true gourmet cheese factory, but we found it disappointing. At least my kids enjoyed feeding the goats.

“Wonderful lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

Very nice lunch of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others. Our lunches averaged about $9 pp for lunch. All homemade and fresh.
