Description: Very good Mexican in the heart of Sisters, Oregon. The margaritas were delicious (and strong) and everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. The pre-meal cabbage salsa and chips was a great appetizer after a late afternoon 15 mile bike ride. The meals are a little on the expensive side but not so high to make you go somewhere else. They have a small patio out the back that provides a scenic view of the surrounding mountains.

“Mixed Review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

My family goes to Sisters a few times a year. We mostly eat at the home we rent but we do try and get to some of the restaurants in town. We heard from the locals that the best margaritas were at Rancho Viejo. So we thought we’d try them and out order an appetizer.

Mom ordered regular margarita on the rocks = it was so so, no great, but not bad
Dad ordered virgin regular margarita = first one got sent back because it had no flavor, second one was okay
I had the Rancho Viejo Pomegranate margarita = OH MY SO INCREDIBLY GOOD!
Sister had the blended strawberry margarita = she loved it!

The service was good and the waitress was nice when she took back the drink.

We also ordered the nachos for everyone. The nachos were a bit of a disappointment. It was a small plate of nachos for 4 people to share. The chips were mushy underneath the beans and meat. They were okay and we ate them, but it wasn’t something we’d ever order again.

“Good stuff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012 via mobile

Went here after hiking up Black Crater with my husband and his family. I got the Tacos al Carbon with steak and was pleased. Well seasoned and tasty. The guac and pico were nice. Husband says his mexican burrito with verde sauce was tasty as well. Would go again. A bit pricey but it is a tourist town so it was on par with the rest of the area.

“Great Mexican quinine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012 via mobile

Excellent, homemade Margaritas. Combine with creative Mexican dishes; Yum. Be sure to get the flamed vanilla custard/flan for dessert. Pair it if you dare with a Mexican coffee!

“Some unique dishes”

Good food, excellent salsa and very nice wait staff. The outside seating is nice...but there are too many little bugs that want to help you drink your beer!

“Simply Okay; Had Better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

The 2 of us were tired of shopping, it was getting hot outside and we were hungry for Mexican food. This place is right downtown so we popped in. We were warmly greeted and asked if we preferred inside or outside so we chose inside because it was cooler. The atmosphere is the usual Mexican decor and colors with a lean more toward Caballeros since this is "horse country". We ordered 2 margaritas on the rocks and they were very good. My dining partner had the Super Burrito which he pronounced as being good. He is a burrito-lover so I took his comment as being so-so. I had a seafood enchilada which had crab, scallops and shrimp in it along with rice and black beans. Refried beans are not mentioned on the menu at all which is okay because I prefer black beans. I thought it was interesting that there was no choice. I felt the prices were a bit steep for Mexican food, which, at least where I live, is usually inexpensive. We would possibly return here. There is another Mexican food restaurant I spotted while coming into town so next time we're in the area, we'll give that one a try.
