“Delightful experience; well worth the search; great value for the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2010

We knew this hotel was at the Oregon Gardens, but didn't realize it was AT the Oregon gardens. The signage is very small and difficult to see in low light at dusk. However, for a delightful experience, turn IN at the Oregon Gardens sign and follow the tiny signs to the Oregon Garden Resort. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to use our free tickets to the Oregon Gardens, being as we arrived after closing time. Were thrilled to learn that the gardens were open to us with our room key from sun up to sun down. Enjoyed a late evening, two hour stroll through the just-to-ourselves-gardens. In addition to the gardens, the rooms were cozy with very comfortable beds and our own patios with table and chairs. We'll be back!

the best value for money that we've got on our US trip. Great location, rooms are very nice (including a patio) and child friendly, and with the entrance to the gardens, dinner (fantastic) and breakfast included in the already low price, this is one of the best stays that we had in the US.

We stayed the night of the Oregon Garden Pedal Petal bike fundraiser. The resort was completely full. First the bad: We had two towels in our room...we had to use them for the pool and showers. They were completely out of towels. Note to hotel...buy more towels and have towels at the pool.
The lounge is fabulous and the live music was great. But, even though they knew the resort was sold out, they had one employee working in the lounge. They also only had the dinner menu, no bar menu in the lounge. We ended up leaving without ordering anything as the employee was too busy and stressed to help us. We went back to our room and sat on the patio and drank the beer we brought. The patios don't have much of a view, but they are pleasant. So..bring your own towels and your own beer and snacks...
The rooms are very nice and clean, but small.
The garden is fabulous. The garden is worth it all.
The restaurant needs help. Literally, again the place was sold out and when we ate at the buffet they were out of silverware, coffee and many of the hot plates were empty. The staff seemed befuddled and unhappy. As I've read in other reviews, the table clothes were plastic and I thought really cheapened the place. They should remove them at least for dinner.
Overall, the place if very nice and worth a stay. I know I sound like I'm picking on the little things, but they added up quickly. And they were all issues that were easily fixable. Management needs to improve service. It is service that keeps me coming back.
I'll visit the garden but I doubt I'll stay at the resort again. It was a good one-timer, but unless it improves no need to stay again.

My husband and I spent the weekend at Oregon Garden Resort to have time together and do some much needed mental and physical recharging. This is a beautiful place with the gardens, fragrant air, bird song, quiet (no street sounds as they up a hill away from the public road,) and comfortable rooms. Each room has a patio with table and chairs. We saw lots of violet-green swallows swooping back and forth - their song is enchanting.
The gardens are a work in progress and developing very nicely with some unique settings. Be sure to get a map as the walkways curl around and it's easy to miss areas.
The rooms at the resort are very comfortable and clean and look like all the photos. There's a gas fireplace, mini microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker for morning coffee on the patio (incredibly lovely experience, birdsong, the sun coming up, and coffee.)
They have a restaurant (breakfast comes with the room and is okay, nothing special - only a few choices but good.) We didn't eat any other meals there. We went into town and had lunch at O'Briens which was very good. They have a deck that overlooks Silver Creek and gives you the illusion that you're sitting on a riverboat while dining.
There's a lounge at Oregon Resort with colorful cushioned seats and chairs, tables scattered around a fireplace and includes games for the children (or adults) while you have an appetizer and glass of wine. We didn't try the spa but there is one on site and a swimming pool and hot tub.
I highly recommend this place for getting away from the daily work routine, relaxing, and rejuvenating. It is well worth the trip.

A great getaway in the Willamette Valley: package rate included two excellent breakfasts and dinners, access to the Oregon Garden, charming garden motif room with private patio, plush bed and linens, environmentally friendly bath products, and close to a variety of places to explore, including wineries, gardens and outlet mall shopping. And, based on our July 4th stay last year, we highly recommend reservations at this time to enjoy the fireworks and concert in the garden, with an easy walk back to your cozy room.

My husband and I got a really good package deal for this hotel that included free dinner and a bottle of wine at their restaurant so we couldn't pass up the chance to stay here.

The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was wonderful - great views of the garden and being that the hotel was pretty new, everything seemed sparkling and fresh. The only complaint with the room that I had was that our heater was connected to the gas fireplace, which was really, really nice in concept, but I've woken up more than once in the middle of the night because the flickering lights from the fireplace made it seem like strobe lights were going off in our room. My suggestion would be to have the central heat and the fireplace be two separate entities. But overall it wasn't that big of a deal.

Basically everything about the hotel was great. The bar was nice, they served great local wines and beers. My husband and I had a couples massage at their spa, and their masseuses and the amenities at the spa were nice.

The one really big thing we had an issue with was the restaurant. I agree with the previous poster about the food and staff service. Our food was extremely mediocre at best and the bottle of wine we had with dinner was merely okay. Although the restaurant wasn't packed (it was early April, cold and rainy, not exactly high season for the gardens), our server seemed a bit distracted and not quite... with it. The ambiance of the restaurant was actually quite depressing. There was tacky music playing on the speakers and most of the other guests in the restaurant looked tired and glum.

So overall a fairly decent experience. My advice to future patrons is to enjoy the hotel, but until the management vamps up the quality of the restaurant, make plans to drive into town for dinner.

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. The location and setting is very nice and I can see where with the right direction this property could definitely be a destination resort. The gardens are outstanding and one of the best selling points. It is new and the lodge looks out over the gardens. There are individual buildings behind the lodge that house the individual rooms. Ours was quite spacious with a comfy king size bed and fireplace and internet reception was excellent. Bathroom was fairly good size but a little spartan.
One could spend a day easily exploring the gardens and a day exploring Silverton and the falls that are nearby.

I have two criticisms of the resort. First is the restaurant. They need to bring in a really good chef and do something with the menu. We felt like we were eating hospital or retirement home food. Breakfast was exactly the same each day. They had a special on that we got a main course and a bottle of wine for $89 including the room. It was a great deal, but i would have been willing to pay more if the food had some character. There are no restaurants nearby, so basically guests are a captive audience and they could do wonders if they had good and interesting food. I had a chicken picatta (I think it was chicken, not veal ) that was not terribly memorable and the second night I had a pasta dish that definitely was not worth reordering.

Second, they need to send the staff to Hotel School 101. Our server the first night and our maid were the friendliest people there. Other than that, no one seemed overly welcoming or helpful. We went to three other places after the Oregon Garden, and the difference was noticable. They weren't rude - just indifferent. The second morning we noticed they did have waffles, but the containers of syrup were empty. My husband turned them upside down so that perhaps they would notice and refill them, but the servers just looked at them for a few minutes and then just ignored it and left them upside down! As noted by a previous review, the bar was understaffed when we were there, too. He was all out of Bloody Mary mix and had to leave the bar to try and find some. He was gone for awhile, returned with the mix, but then had no olives! They were out of several of the appetizers. They have a spa, hot tub and pool, but provide no robes to walk from your room to the pool/hot tub which requires walking outside (no rooms in the lodge) for up to half a block or more, so my husband didn't use it.

I would come back here again because the gardens are so worth visiting. However, I would really be excited to come back again if they got a new chef and worked on improving customer friendliness and enthusiasm. I would even be willing to pay more!
