In June we were traveling in southern Oregon and we happened to run into one of the owners of this lodge when we were in French Glen. His name is J.W. Everitt and he suggested that we stop by his lodge on our way north. We visited the lodge and the other owner, J.W.'s wife Carol Chaffee showed us around. We even met their pet bobcat named "Bob". We had to go back and spend the night. So in July we did just that. They have done a fantastic job at renovating this 1939 boarding house into a beautiful lodge. J.W. and Carol are gracious hosts. J.W. played a few licks on his guitar which was very entertaining. He is an accomplished musician and has his own recording studio in the lodge. Carol made a fantastic dinner that was presented in a awesome setting. This was followed by a great breakfast the next morning. They made us feel like we were staying at our best friends house. There are lots of thiings to do in the summer and winter in the area. Golfing, hiking, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, John Day fossil beds and the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. We enjoyed our visit very much and would highly recommend this jewel in Seneca Oregon.
