“Lovely B&B with even lovelier new owner!”

I honestly can't think of a better word than "lovely" to describe my visit. The Matthew room with attached full bath was very quiet and comfortable (best sleep ever!), the breakfasts and afternoon snacks were delicious, and I enjoyed meeting the fellow guests from all over in the common areas.

The beach and downtown Seaside's charming stores and restaurants are a block away, and the B&B has ample parking just next to the side entrance.

The Gilbert Inn is being run by a new owner (Jeannie) and she is really friendly and eager for her guests to enjoy their stay in Seaside. The Gilbert Inn is...LOVELY!

We stay one day at this BB and were treated with good service. He had a room on the tird floor with window facing the beach. The room and bead were both clean and comfortable. We arrive and were pleasant greeted by th owner. He advised us that he serve wine at 4:00 o'clock that after and that breakfast was started at 7-9 a.m. The next morning our breakfast was serve in a patio style room facing a garden. Gilbert and wife severe a excellent breakfast and do it with good food. I would recommend this accomodation for 1-2 nights but not for longer stays. It is a unquie experence.

“Beautiful inn located across the street from noisy public parking garage”

The inn was charming and very clean. The inn keepers are very plesant and accomodating. We stayed here four nights and the breakfast was consistently excellent. The main problem with the room we stayed in (Matthew) was that it was directly across the street from a multi level public parking garage. Every time a car would come in or out you would hear beeping noises which made it difficult to sleep at times. I am suprised that no one else has mentioned this fact in their review.

“Very nice house”

The Gilbert Inn is a well preserved old house just a block from the beach. We stayed one for one night when the Volleyball tournament was on so the town was very busy. Our room (Renee) was very comfortable and quiet even being on the ground floor. There was sherry, cookies and coffee left out in the afternoon and the coookies were great.

We found the owners friendly but a little stand offish and hidden away, we were directed to our room rather than being shown the room which we found a little unusual for innkeepers. Some guests may prefer this approach however we prefer to chat with the owners to find out the best places to dine and things to do.

The breakfast arrangement is personal in that you sit at small tables but again miss the chance to talk to the owners and other guests.

All in all this is a very nice clean comfortable place to stay in a nice location.

“Classy Oasis close to the Pacific”

Our stay at the Gilbert Inn Bed and Breakfast was a real treat all around. The Matthew room was beautifully decorated and quite comfortable, complete with a large fan to circulate the refreshing night breezes off the Pacific. The breakfasts were tasty and creative and each afternoon there were warm chocolate chip cookies for the guests in one of the lovely public areas . Our hosts were most genial and took great care to make sure that our stay in Seaside was pleasant. Two restaurants were recommended and both were superb. While a portion of Seaside is filled with large high rise time shares and over sized hotels, the Gilbert Inn is a classy oasis a half block from the Pacific.

The only downside would be the fact that there is a large timeshare located across the side street from the inn. What a shame that modern times have intruded! Nevertheless this would not stop me from staying here again if I had the opportunity to head west again.
