“Excellent stay and looking forward to staying there again soon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2011

My son and his family live in the Salem, OR area and we enjoy staying at the Grand Hotel. He has business there and it gives us a great excuse to come down and stay in this hotel. We can park for free, eat at the hotel, and enjoy a drink in the bar. This time my son had an auction there and once again the hotel didn't disappoint. A very nice stay. Thank you Grand Hotel!

I attended the Oregon Library Association Conference in April. The accomodations were perfect for this large gathering; meeting rooms, guest rooms, meals and snacks. The hot tub was an added bonus to relax after a long day. The staff were all polite and eager to answer any questions. The hotel and surroundings were pleasant and extremely clean. I used the valet service to catch a bus out of town. The driver was polite, engaging and especially helpful.

Room Tip: set the heat/air correctly to avoid noise.

Starting to look a little dated. A/C made rattling noise starting at 3 a.m. the third night which kept me awake. No refund since they "couldn't reproduce the noise". Offered another night's stay-like I'm going to fly back from GA just for that! I depended on the a/c to cover up the street noise...now you get the picture. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean.

We chose The Grand Hotel for a business stay because it was the closest to our destination. But after our fabulous experience at this beautiful hotel, we would drive out of our way to stay here again! The rooms were spacious and comfortable (can you say leather couch!?) and every single staff member was professional, efficient and accomodating. A "grand" breakfast is included with the stay-- everything from cream of wheat to hot sausage, eggs and fresh fruit. It was absolutely the best hotel breakfast I've ever eaten. I would very highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Salem area. It's also extremely reasonable cost -- excellent value! Wow!!!

If you ever visit Salem this is the only place to stay. The manager and his staff are to be congratulated on providing wonderful, attentive and first class service. Nothing was too much trouble for them; and they are to be congratulated for maintaining the hotel to such a great standard. From the front-desk staff to the delicious breakfasts and excellent value-for-money meals in the restaurant I could not fault anything. The rooms were extremely well appointed with comfortable beds and good showers. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and if I should venture back to Salem i will stay at the Grand Hotel. Thank you.

Room Tip: The restaurant is brilliant

My daughter and I were in Salem to tour Willamette University. Our choice of The Grand Hotel in Salem could not have been better. We were able to walk to nearby downtown shopping and be back to the Hotel for a wonderful dinner in the Hotel restaurant. The next day our walk to the university, was very easy. The The Grand Hotel is lovely, the staff extremely helpful and the rooms very well appointed. As my daughter decided to attend Willamette University, I look forward to many more stays! Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay very much. Staff at the Grand Hotel desk got us off to a great start by letting us check in early. We had Capitol business, so would have appreciated being able to use the parking garage early the day we checked in. When we asked about early parking, we were wonderfully surprised and delighted to be offered an early check-in too. Just great for us!! We had plans for dinner so didn't eat at the in-house restaurant. We did spend time at the bar with the very knowledgeable wine specialist. He steered us to a great brandy (also a grape beverage) we'd never had before. With that brandy we had a fabulous chocolate dessert! In the morning we appreciated the quality offerings. One of us appreciated that the eggs didn't taste like they came out of a box. The other of us enjoyed the waffles. If/When we're back in Salem, we'll want to stay at the Grand Hotel. We have recommended it to friends too.

Room Tip: We slept fine with inner room HVAC noise outside.
