“Excellent breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We had the eggs Benedict and filet mignon chicken fried steak, awesome! Thursday at 930 am twenty five minute wait so opted to sit at small bar ( plenty of elbow room though). Had a Bloody Mary since I was sitting on a bar stool, very good! great service very friendly, i hear the weekends can be over an hour so try during the week. Will definitely be back!

“Worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Sunday morning 12/02/12

Oddly enough, we found out about this restaurant by "word of mouth" from Richie at the AT&T wireless store in South Salem.

What to expect:
The restaurant is in a converted house built in 1917. It has that "classic" house atmosphere that has 12 tables and bar seating for 5. Becky (owner) did a very nice remodel job which includes the restrooms which were also clean and spacious. This place is very popular with the "locals" as we waited about 35 minutes for a table. Parking is limited in their small parking lot so we parked on the street.

The food:
We started with a cup of coffee which comes from a gourmet coffee company in Stayton, OR called Tico's coffee. The coffee was rich and flavorful.

Shelly ordered the Heavenly Veggie Hash -
Fresh veggies- broccoli, zucchini, caramelized onions, bell peppers, spinach, artichoke, shredded carrots and spices, chopped into baby Yukon Gold potatoes. Topped with diced Roma tomatoes, grilled artichoke hearts & served with two eggs any style and your choice of breakfast bread. She chose the sourdough toast with "freezer" jam that Becky's mother makes from scratch.

I had the The Meatlover breakfast burrito -
Bacon, ham and sausage scrambled in three eggs with cheddar cheese, wrapped tight in a flour tortilla and pressed in the Panini press. Served with your choice of breakfast potatoes or fresh fruit. Fresh chopped “Backyard Salsa” on the side.

The service:
As with my previous reviews, this is the benchmark where the rubber meets the road. Our server was Andrea who was prompt and polite. When she found out that this was our first visit, she brought us a complementary "mini" version of "Becky's redic-ulicios cinnamon roll pancake" which was wonderful. I take my hat off to Becky to serve up a complimentary appetizer to introduce new customers to her restaurant.

Overall impression:
The food was very good and plentiful. The quality and quantity is certainly within the price range of their menu items. The food experience is worth the wait for a table. The restaurant is homey with character. The restroom are clean and spacious. On an environmental note - their takeout containers are made of heavy-duty pressed cardboard and not plastic foam.

Will we be back? A definite YES!

“too spendy for us”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

WE didn't eat there. WE did go in, sit down and look at the menu and felt like it was too expensive for us, a couple of retired folks. The food we saw on plates did look good, the place for being as small as it is, was clean

“Great food but cramped”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Enjoyed this place. Finally went after seeing lines of people ALWAYS outside. Figured this must be good if its worth the wait. Only issue was NO kids meal. A little spendy. But good treat.
