Stopped here while traveling south to calf. Just of highway easy on and off. Older hotel, but well kept and very inexpensive. Friendly young lady at front desk was very helpfull. Nice pool and hot tub.

This was my first stop on my way from Seattle to San Diego. I was looking for deals on hotel rooms and found one for this property.
It is an older motel but well maintained outside. The owners obviously care about the exterior of the hotel. The outside has not been remodeled. Do not let this be of concern to you. If you are traveling through to another destination; the hotel will serve it's purpose for a nights rest.

Check in was efficient, friendly and welcoming. The staff explained hours for breakfast and when cookies would be served in the evening.

My room was on the small side but enough space for myself and a couple of bags. The carpet was a bit worn and out of date. It appears some remodeling to the interior had been completed but the carpet was older. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Extra pillow and blanket were available in the room (which I used; the room was freezing when I arrived) . The AC/heat was an old style window unit placed in the way, at the rear end of the room next to the vanity. It took the unit a while to warm the room and I ended up taking a hot bath to ward off the chill. I read the in room information book which stated some rooms had baseboard heating. Yuck! I can not image how long that would take to warm up a room. It is rather cold In this area during winter months.
The bathroom was small but updated. Nothing special but again served it's purpose. It provided a warm bath with plenty of hot water.
Overall, I slept well. There is a bit of highway noise since the property sits just off the freeway.
I would stay here again if I needed a room for one night.

Room Tip: Ask about the AC/heating unit for your room before hand.

Our house heat is set at lower sixties F at night but we froze last night in this place with the little heater set at 81F! When we checked in we mentioned the room was cold. The desk clerk said it would warm up as they just turned the heat on so we went to dinner. Ate at a WONDERFUL Mexican restaurant that we walked to. Came back it was a bit warmer. Keep in mind we were outside walking for the last hour. Heater seemed to be putting out heat as it cycled off and on and off and on. There seemed to be warm air coming out. By 11pm we decided it was either tough it out or get dressed and move. We're from Canada eh!. So we got the extra blanket out and we stayed. Well between that and the beds that are about the same age as me...getting up there...it wasn't pleasant. Now my husband is thinking of taking a shower and the water is only lukewarm and dribbleing out the shower head! Clean but so old they should start over! Take a bottle of ibuprofen and an electric blanket if you plan to stay here. On the positive the breakfast sounds great....

Be sure to visit Wildlife Safari in Winston, just South.

Good, clean rooms; good breakfast; and don't miss the fresh cookies 8 - 9 pm.
Pay attention leaving if turning left - have to go passed gas station to traffic light.
Pool wasn't open, but looked very inviting.
Good eating close by.

Visit Cape Arago State Park on the coast; Seals, Lions and Bald Eagles. Made our 2,600 mile trip.

Room Tip: People walking up the steps are a little noisy.

The bed was comfy. The room was clean. But the room just felt old, despite newer furniture. The bathroom area was original, and the room just smelled like an old hotel. Despite the "no smoking" rule, the room smells like a place that used to be a smoking room. Maybe not for years, but still I hate that smell.

The staff was great and very helpful. Breakfast was great.
