“great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

this was a great place to stay, the owners/mgrs are very freindly, helpful and accommodating.. very clean too! we had a huge bathroom and the balcony stairs are perfect for going down to beach access and the picnic area. we couldnt find the TV remote so Neil (owner?) came to our room and hunted it down for us, very personal service :) comfortable and casual.. i even loved the decorative lights they had wrapped around the stairway rails by the lobby. we sat outside @ the picnic tables until dark and watched the amazing sunset.. then we went inside and made a fire. beautiful coastline, crackling fire, it doesnt get much better than this. i would definitely stay here again. my only regret was that we cut our trip short and could not stay the second night @ Tradewinds like we had originally planned. my suggestions are maybe an outdoor/oceanview jacizzi? and there should be ready made coffee somewhere so i can stay awake longer and enjoy the ocean :) making coffee in the room is too much trouble to clean-up while on vacation lol. we will be back here hopefully October 2012!

We had a huge room right on the beach with a balcony, fireplace, MW, fridge, coffee maker, WIFI, double-head shower, and spotlessly clean. Picnic tables and grill were right outside our door. A request to management for an extension cord brought service above-and-beyond. Only negatives I could come up with were that the plastic shampoo packets were impossible to open (glad I tried them before getting in the shower) and the towels (extra-large) could use some fabric softener. Next time we’re in Oregon, we will definitely plan on spending more than one night in this great spot.

First time to visit the Oregon Coast-
Great find! Fireplace, kitchenette with CLEAN dishes-pots-pans etc!
The first floor has its own patio with chairs and a grill outside!

Room is big-everything is super clean-dated furniture but it is super clean! The dishes were ready to use- love that you can have the ocean right outside your sliding door!

Yes the first floor you might not want to leave the door open all night-second floor would allow you to do that more comfortably.

Bathroom is roomy -water pressure good and hot water readily available! I deducted one star for dated furniture and the fact that even though there were only 2 of us.. a few more towels would have been good!

Want to stay right on the sand? This is the place!

Almost afraid to let the word out.. want to be able to keep it quiet and clean for me!

Room Tip: First floor you can walk right onto the sand-Second floor lets you leave the door open all night and...

This motel has a great location on the beach. It is clean and well maintained. The owners and staff are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. The decoration may be dated, but the comfort of the bed, the view and amenities all make up for that! They even provide a BBQ so you can cook your own seafood!

Room Tip: Ocean side rooms are right on the beach!

My wife and I have traveled from Langley, BC to the Oregon coast a few times now, and last year we fell in love with Rockaway Beach, as it's not as crazy crowded as say Cannon Beach or Seaside. Last year we found the Surfside Resort motel, it was decent, but this year, we had two other families join our family of 4 down the coast, so we investigated places with connecting rooms and such. My wife found TRADEWINDS online, so I began inquiring with Neil(the owner) via email and instantly had great service!

When we got there, the first thing we noticed was the AMAZING view and the great access to the beach. Our rooms were connected, on the first floor, ocean view for 2 of the 3 rooms, the rooms were spacious, pots and pans and utensils all there (except they didn't have a wine cork, no biggie, left ours behind for the next guest!)

We spent 7 nights there, 10 of us, 5 being kids and never once did we feel intrusive with each other nor did we really feel like we were tripping over each other!

Overall, we had a fabulous time, service was great, maid service was pleasant and personable, the view is amazing, rooms were clean, beds not super comfy, but I have a bad back and it will be tough for me to find a perfect bed on the road, wifi was a bit weak in our rooms, but we survived, our future trips will be spent in Rockaway and at the Tradewinds, we already booked next August with Neil and cannot wait.

Room Tip: request first floor, ocean view for best access to beach

We were lucky enough to happen upon the Tradewinds on a trip down the Oregon Coast with our son. The room was spacious, with a queen-sized bed, pullout sofa, small dining table, kitchen area and fireplace (complete with a starter log!) Everything you might need was provided and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was perfect -- right on the beach -- and we had a fantastic view of the ocean from our balcony. Highly recommended.
